Did we lose the scanning feature in 2022 Desktop Enterprise all together? How do we upload documents now?
Yes, Intuit eliminated the built in scan document feature with QuickBooks 2022 and Enterprise 22.0.
I think the only way to do it now is manually, outside of QuickBooks, and then attach the file within QuickBooks.
I recognize the importance of being able to use the scanning feature in QuickBooks Desktop, @Lisa W J.
The Scan Manager tool was discontinued in QBDT 2022 and replaced with Attach Documents.
You can now utilize the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app to upload documents to the system using your mobile device if you have the latest version. After that, you can include them in invoices, purchase orders, and other transactions.
QBDT presently supports PDFs as well as images in JPEG, JPG, GIF, and PNG formats. You'll need to download the QuickBooks Desktop program to use this feature.
Here are the links to download them based on your device:
After that, you can now start capturing and uploading the documents. If you're using an Android version, follow these:
Please see the steps below if you're using an iOS version: Attach documents to transactions in QuickBooks Desktop using mobile.
I've also gathered the following materials to assist you in streamlining your daily accounting tasks:
I'm always ready to assist further if you have other concerns with this matter. Feel free to comment back. Have a great day ahead!
It is not feasible for us to take pics of documents that include 100+ pages to attach to transactions within QuickBooks. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring back the scan document (from a desktop scanner) within the Attach function on Journals, Bills, Checks, within QuickBooks. We switched from Premier 2019 to Enterprise 2022. I am very UNHAPPY that QuickBooks has taken this function away. I suggest going to Help>Send FeedBack Online>Product Suggestion and asking QuickBooks programming to add this function back. Maybe if more of us would suggest they bring this back, they will add it back.
I am also very unhappy i can no longer scan to an invoice. Big problem for me. Makes no since to update something and take away features.
This is not a good way to upload a document that is 100+ pages. Bring back the scan feature within QuickBooks - Attach. Taking this feature away has added more time to our workload.
I am very disappointed with the scan options. First scanning to my PC then uploading into Quickbooks is time consuming. I have to scan the doc then name it so that it doesn't get lost in a sea of documents on my desktop. Then I have to upload the document into Quickbooks. The second option of scanning the doc into Quickbooks using my personal phone is not an acceptable option for a healthcare facility. We scan documents into Quickbooks that has patient information attached to it. Using our phones could be a HIPAA violation waiting to happen. You scan the document with your phone with the patient info on it, you get busy and you forget to delete the information you scanned with the patient info on it and then you are now in possession of that patient's information that could be compromised if someone gets into your phone. It's just not feasible for us to use the cell phone scanning option. We need the scan option that was removed. It was a quick click of a button and the info was scanned and saved. Lots of additional steps involved. And when you are working in a fast paced work environment you do not have time for all of the extra steps involved.
Thanks for joining this thread, DanaH-AFHSI.
I can certainly understand how an ability to scan documents from a computer with the click of a button could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can submit your own feature requests while using QuickBooks.
Here's how:

I followed your suggestion and made the product suggestion to Intuit. Yes, you are supposed to take 100 pictures with your cell phone while your boss is wondering why you are taking pictures of clients' documents on your cell phone. Ridiculous.
This is ridiculous. you just made our jobs harder??? Why????
I do not wish to use a mobile app!! Why did you just not leave both options. I have used Qbooks for over 25 years and this is the worst version due to this change in the software .
The scan to was easy quick and made my job easier now its twice as hard and takes twice as long.
Why??
Qbooks please bring back the scan to option !! Read all the comments online regarding this blunder you have made you customers jobs harder!!! What in the world were you thinking?? Mobile app to attach documents - please correct this ....as a long time user , this is the only time in 25 plus years I have been so disappointed .
Please put the scan to option back for all of your loyal customers who depend on it!! it takes twice as long now to do a simple task. Admit you made a terrible mistake and correct it please. Thank you.
Absolutely ridiculous!!! Who has this kind of time . Who suggested this change - must not work with the software at all. Use our mobile app - this is laughable!
Just made all our lives so much harder . Takes twice as long to attach a document .
Ridiculous

It is dum to take away the scanner interface. It is not possible to scan multipule documents using a mobile device. More importantly I would not want company documents on employee's personal devices. I do not understand the reason for discontinueing the scanner from Quickbooks desktop. I am paying for Quickbooks Enterprise Dimond edition, which is of no use because I cannot upgrade to a newer editions.
I totally agree. If you have version 2019 or earlier DO NOT "upgrade" because you will lose that functionality and it will actually become a downgrade. I can't stress enough DO NOT upgrade from version 2019 or earlier.
RE: It is dum to take away the scanner interface.
There it is in a nutshell: Intuit's product management decision making of late.
One wonders what their decision making process is? Roll of the dice? Drawing lots? Rock, paper, scissors?
Removing Scan manager is devasting. I hope QB goes bankrupt.
Yea but it would have been hard for them to re-code it for 64-bit. Big tears.
QB forces the upgrade. I held on as long as I could before I was forced to upgrade. QB not only took away scan manager, but they stopped me from processing credit card transactions. I had no choice but to upgrade. These people are ruthless and do not care at all about their customer. They know moving to another accounting program would be a great deal of work. So they take complete advantage and discontinue features that cost them money. Meanwhile, our monthly rate increases. This is about QB bottom line regardless. If they do bring back scan manager, it will either be a huge increase in your monthly premium or a separate charge which will most likely be an extra one, two or three hundred dollars a month. Unfortunately, their customers will pay it because it is a great need to many of us. I doubt my boss will be willing to pay extra.
I am completely at a loss on this. I can't believe this thread is not full of complaints. We process hundreds of transactions per week which require documents attached. We don't work on mobile devices; we work on DESKTOPS. We scan multi-page documents and invested in the hardware to scan them quickly. And you want us to snap pictures of the documents on our phones? Absolutely absurd!!!!! This may be the deciding factor that we need to find another software. Been thinking about it for years.
Intuit took away one of their biggest selling points from QuickBooks. Bad move! I consider the scanning burden DAILY as I continually have to switch back and forth between programs to scan, save, drag, etc. It is a clunky process and a total time waster. With every scan, I think of what a dumb decision this was on Intuit's part.
I have written many complaints to you "Feedback". What a Fxxxing joke. You people do not care about your customers or the position you have put us in. Discontinuing scan manager was a strategic move to fatten up your bottomline. You people do not respond to this situation because you are hoping it will just disappear and be forgotten. Well its been several years and people are still complaining. I hope you lost customers. I would love to switch to another accounting program but I can't due to the amount of work it would take to change. So I deal with it but I will never recommend QB. Why would I want to help you when you don't care about us and our needs. You just drop and make changes without any warning.
