I would like to speak to a human regarding transferring my accounting information from my Quickbooks Desktop to my Quickbooks Online service. Pls call me (xxx) xxx-xxxx.

I can assure you that I'm as human as they come, and I'm here to help you resolve your issue, @bkh1958.

When moving your data from QBDT to QBO, you'll have to make sure that you're using a supported version. You can install the trial license of QuickBooks 2020. This way, you'll be able to export your data to QBO from the trial version.

Once done, follow these steps:

  1. Open your company file using the trial version.
  2. Go to Company and select Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  3. Select Start your export.
  4. Sign in as an admin to your QBO company.
  5. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions.

For more detailed steps, refer to this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

Know that there are limitations when you convert your file. That includes the attachments, audit trail, and recurring transactions.

Once done, I'd recommend running the Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports to ensure that you transferred your data correctly. To verify your reports in both products, filter the date period to All Dates and the accounting method to Accrual. For more information, check out this article: What to do after converting from QBDT for Windows to QBO.

@bkh1958

If you have to open a new QBO account, make sure to click the Buy button to get the discounted price for up to 3 months. If you purchase from the trial account, you have to pay the regular rate.

Joining the thread to answer your question about getting access to your data, mcengstrom.

You will have access to your payroll data 6 months after you cancel the account. Within that period, you can print or export your reports to Excel to save a copy of your payroll data. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports tab and select the report you want to run.
  2. You can filter the report by date range, employee, or work location.
  3. Click Update Report.

To export the report, select View in Excel in the right-hand corner. You can also click the Printer-Friendly Version link just beside it if you want to print the report.

Feel free to check out this article in case you want to reactivate the account in the future: Reactivate Your QuickBooks Payroll Subscription.

What is the website for my login going to be?  Currently I login to the BOA website then go to business services / payroll.  I won't be able to do that once I cancel the BOA account, right?

Hi there, mcengstrom.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'm here to ensure that you'll be able to cancel your Bank of America account.

Yes, you won't be able to do that once you cancel it and you'll need to transfer the data first to your payroll account.

Here's the website that you can use when logging in to your account: iop.intuit.com.

If you're still unable to cancel the BOA account and you received an error message, I'd suggest contacting our support team. They can pull up your account to review the connection between your QBDT account and Bank of America. They can also open an investigation if an issue is found, then add you to the affected users so you can receive updates about its status.

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?) at the top right.
  3. Select or type Contact Us.
  4. Enter your concern, then select Let's talk.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us.
  6. Ask the community to get help from businesses like yours.
  7. Start a chat with a support expert.
