Looks like you removed the forward and backward arrows from the invoice page like existed on desktop. Thanks for screwing us out of a feature we are paying for, since we were promised no loss of features.
Why can't I select ALL for looking at invoices I have to go year by year. At least if I can find the number of the missing invoice I'd have one clue.
Intuit bugs are most expensive for my business than taxes and insurance combined.
Hello there, MichaelOD.
I can see how the missing invoices cause inconvenience when dealing with your business finances. Hence, I'll ensure you can link the unapplied payments to an invoice to keep your record accurate.
In QuickBooks Online, we can utilize the audit log to keep track of the changes made within the software. It helps us review if someone edited/deleted the invoice so we can recreate it with the correct details. Also, please note that only the admin can access this feature.
Here's how:
Once you've found the missing invoice, recreate the transaction with this information. After that, you can proceed to these steps to link the payment to the invoice:
In addition, you can review these resources to learn more about unapplied cash payments and how to deal with them:
On the other hand, consider running and customizing different financial reports to gain valuable insights from your business that are essential for creating informed decisions.

In February 95% of my invoices were lost. I was on the phone Extensively with a representative who was unable to help me. No one has followed up to resolve this issue, and the same thing happened again with March invoices. I am very concerned about my financial data, given the repeated problem yet to be resolved. Going through all the steps listed above, takes the quick out of QuickBooks, and the repeated problem takes quite a bit of my confidence out of using this app.
The same thing happened to me… Described in an above reply. This happened with about a dozen invoices in February, and again, with nearly all my invoices in March! No issue resolved.
It isn't the kind of experience I'd like you to have, @Perplexed2.
I understand you already contacted our Customer Care team for assistance about your issue with invoices disappearing in QuickBooks Online.
Since you have tried all the troubleshooting steps in this thread and still have the same issue, I recommend reaching our Customer Care team again. This way, they can investigate further and check cause of this issue.
Here's how:
When everything is fixed, you can read this article to help you customize invoices and record invoice payment in QuickBooks Online:
Let me know if you have questions about managing invoices in QuickBooks Online. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.
This isn't complicated. QBO has a history of losing invoices as well as creating multiples of deposits and withdrawals. I've never had an issue maintaining a file. I have a super micro server, full parity, RAID, running FreeBSD. I don't lose or damage files. It's my data. I want my master company file so I can revert every time Intuit's latest unsolicited "feature" destroys my data set again. Intuit has proven it cannot be entrusted as a data warehouse. I'll bet a dollar to a donut this is a class action suit within a few years. Intuit management has become completely disconnected from reality.
Hi
same problem here also , customers getting duplicate emails invoices that I never created , then when you try to find that invoice number it doesn’t exist
QB is literally junk lately , all they care is the monthly billing NOTHING ELSE
WORTHLESS
I recognize the inconvenience your customers are facing with duplicate emails (invoices), UG20. Let me provide some solutions that can help you effectively fix this issue.
Before we begin, you may want to ask your customers if the duplicate invoices are from a different company that utilizes QuickBooks Online (QBO). If yes, they can check their email to verify the transaction details.
If the email address belongs to your business, another user may be sending the sales entries. We can check the Audit Log report to see the transaction history. Make sure to log in as the admin to access the activity log.
To run the report:
To gain more insights about this built-in tool, refer to this article: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.
In the event that you're still uncertain about the source of the duplicate emails, we advise contacting our QuickBooks Online (QBO) Care Team for further investigation. They'll also guide you on how to apply the permanent fix once it's available.
In addition, these resources contain solutions to resolve undelivered email invitations and sales forms:
Stay in touch if you need further assistance navigating through QBO or have concerns about invoices and other sales entries. I'm always ready to lend a helping hand.
It happened again. QB Online repeated some invoices and deleted others, from 2017 and 2021. Nothing in the audit file. I just open up to find out I can't reconcile. I had bank records for 2021 but not 2017 and that was a nightmare and a lot of lost income to spend time fixing. Even better, I go to run sales tax and QBO won't let me in without answering questions. It then uses those answers to set up a second tax agency identical to the one I already had. The best part is they don't even calculate the same due on the same data! I've got an appointment with my CPA tomorrow and my balance sheet has the tax agency twice, and I can't delete it because it says I owe money!
Let me guess, this isn't the experience you want me to have with your software, but you spent the last year on a new look and fixed none of the existing bugs documented in this very thread, right? What about the experience you wanted me to have when you forced me off your buggy desktop app to your feature stripped, broken, overpriced online platform? For what, so you can use half of my screen for ads to try to sell me loans based off of examining my private company file? Inuit's culture is despicable. They must pay you all very well to outright lie to people that are really struggling. "Oh, clear the cache! I'm sure that will fix our buggy software," but more importantly, blame the customer rather than own it, right? It must be user error! Clear your cache, incompetent operator! Another new price increase coming soon for the new look, half the screen full of ads, and software that is historically guaranteed to damage your company file?
So what's the secret to deleting an extra set of sales and use tax accounts with a balance?
Please respond immediately with steps to delete these fictitious accounts created by your software.
Hello, @MichaelOD.
We appreciate you coming back with your questions about sales and tax accounts that the software has made in your account.
If the accounts are created by the software and aren't ones you added yourself, there isn't a way to delete them at this time.
I'll submit your feedback to our Product Developers so that they can consider adding them in the future.
I recommend reviewing these guides for additional ways on how to delete or make accounts inactive in your account:
Feel free to reach back out if you have any other questions. Have a great day!
I'm paying monthly to now have to pen slash and initial my Balance Sheets in perpetuity?
Every pencil has an eraser. With all due respect Candice, it's just not believable that Intuit wrote software that creates records that cannot be deleted. Certainly some hurdles may be in place, but no one is that irresponsible. No one would in such a hurry to attract lawsuits: Intuit is vandalizing company files, in this instance, in this whole thread, and throughout this forum.
Maybe you just don't know the technique, or are unwilling, or disallowed from revealing it?
And why does Intuit have web pages dedicated to showing how to deactivate these accounts on desktop but not qb online? Intuit actively decided to disallow that action in the online version? Something is wrong here. It's just to. irrational that Intuit has irreparably vandalized my company file.
For anyone else following this thread, it's been continued in another where Intuit states they have the command line tools to repair the file damage they caused, but refuse to allow me access, or use them to fix the issue themselves.
Here's the thread:
