I have created a new invoice template in the Layout designer and saved it with a unique name. But every time I go to Quickbooks, the old template opens. Clicking on the new template name from the dropdown doesn't change the template to the new invoice - the old template populates. I can't seem to be able to delete the old template, no matter what I do. The old template does not meet my needs. Please help!
Hi there, @Shortgirl06.
For now, we don't have the option to remove the old template in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
Additionally, templates created before the 2007 version will still appear in the Template pop-up menu on your forms as QB2007 Custom Invoice. You can continue to apply the template to transactions and print it, but will no longer be able to edit it.
If you're using the most recent version, there might be a data issue in your company file that's causing this behavior. This is the reason why your old template keeps populating even after selecting the newly created one.
Let's clear this out by updating QuickBooks Desktop for Mac to its latest release. Here's how:
Then, try recreating the template again. If you're still getting the same result, run the Verify and Rebuild Data tools. These will help us identify the most commonly known data issues within a company file and fix it.
Once the issue is fixed, you can now create and send your invoice.
Additionally, you can turn on electronic payments in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac so your customers can pay you online.

Thanks for your reply, but it didn't help solve the situation. I did verify and there were no problems. I am running QB19 for Macs. When I purchased and migrated to a new MacBook Pro, the QB application became corrupted and after many attempts to fix it, I was forced to delete it and do a completely new install (I was able to recreate the past year, and thanks to Covid, not a lot had to be done). Now, while trying to design an invoice from scratch, the invoice reverts to the template, that doesn't suit my needs. There isn't a template that works for me.
Hello there, Shortgirl06.
I appreciate the effort and time you exhaust to fix the invoice template you want to use in QuickBooks.
Since you've done running the Verify and Rebuild data, it would be best to contact our support team to check your account in detail. This way, we'll be able to figure out what's causing this behavior. The template you designed should normally the one to generate when creating an invoice. Since the program always generates the old one, we would like to investigate this matter.
Once verified the cause, we'll be able to provide you with the solution. Then, walk you through the steps that are needed to do to accomplish this issue. You can get real-time help 6 AM- 6 PM PT (Monday-Friday). Here's how:
