After years of running QuickBooks in a conventional server-workstation setup we've moved to Citrix Workspace managed by a datacenter. Regular users on the Citrix desktop are read-only, and the company file and associated content are on a file server. We have an arrangement with the datacenter for one of their techs to run QB updates periodically on the "golden" Citrix desktop image and push out updates to regular users' read-only desktop profiles.
We have discovered is that the payroll tax tables are not updating in this process and naturally the accounting person on his read-only desktop can't save them either -- they revert to the golden image version as soon as he signs off, because (presumably) the tax table data is not saved to the company file or the file server share where the company file is located.
Is there a way to relocate the tax table data location from the application data folder on the desktop (where it is not saved) to the share on the file server (where it would be saved) so the accountant can update his own tax tables instead of having to allow some rando at the datacenter access to our company file so he can update tax tables for us?
Is there an alternative solution that will get us the same results?

That's very likely the case, but it is still true that there isn't a way to change the location of the files. The user has to have rights to update them where they currently exist.
I appreciate you for sharing the details of your concern with us, @Jef22.
The option to relocate your tax table data isn't possible in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Rest assured I'll make sure your payroll data is up-to-date.
To begin with, you'll want to make sure your QBDT is updated to the latest release. This will improve the performance of the software and refreshes the installation folders. Here's how.
You can also see this article for more details: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
Once done, update your payroll tax table to ensure you have the latest rates and calculations.

I'm all ears if you have other questions about managing your files in QBDT. It's always my pleasure to help. Keep safe!

Hello there, @Jef22.
Welcome back to the Community. I want to make sure you get the help you need and I encourage you to contact your Citrix Workforce Support so they can check if the feature you want is available.
The Tax table doesn't always change. Here's an article that has all you'll need to know to be able to download the latest payroll tax table update.
That should guide you in the right direction. Keep me posted if you need anything else in running your business in QuickBooks. Assistance is just one post away.

This is only useful answer. If Intuit doesn't offer a mechanism for relocating the tax tables to outside of the read-only Citrix desktop profile, that's unfortunate but we do have some options, such as making the tax table guy's profile persistent instead of read-only.
Outside of this forum it has been suggested an account could be created with permission to open the company file and run updates, but not have any other access to confidential financial data.
