Job Costing & Class Tracking

It believe Class tracking exists in all desktop versions.  I know Job Costing exists in the Enterprise version.  As far as I understand, it does not exist in the Accountant version.

Does Premier Plus allow both Job Costing and Class tracking?

The Desktop comparison page ( https://quickbooks.intuit.com/desktop/ ) seems to indicate it does under Industry Specific Features.

@registration1

The feature is available on QBD Premier. Fyi, you can still purchase a one time license of QB Desktop Premier 2021 or Accountant 2021/2022.

How is job costing done in QBO?  My time (which is recorded in QBT) is not pulling into the project report.  Is there a step by step process to do this or is it even possible in QBO?

Thank you

Hey there, @NeedSomeGuidence. I'm here to help you with pulling up a report.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), the Project feature works like Job Costing in QuickBooks Desktop. This feature helps you to be organized and track all moving parts.

You’ll need to turn on the Project feature first, so you’ll be able to create a project and pull up the report you need.

To do so, here's how:

1. Go to the Gear icon, then choose Account and Settings.

2. Select the Advanced tab.

3. Find the Projects section and click Edit to expand it.

4. Turn on the Use project financial tracking.

5. Hit Save.

After that, please proceed to Step 2 of this article to set up and create projects in QBO. This contains steps that will guide you along the process.

Once done, you can now pull up a report by following these steps:

1. Go to Projects on the left pane.
2. Double-click the project name.
3. Under Project reports, select the report.
4. Filter your desired date and click run the report.

I've also included some articles that help you streamline the reporting process in QuickBooks:

Drop me a Reply below if you have further questions about utilizing the Projects feature, along with reports. I'll always be here to assist you. Take care.

Thank you.  I followed all the steps correctly but my QB time is still not showing in the project.  Are there any other ways to fix this.  I can see the employee time and it is tagged to the project.

I want to make sure you're able to track your projects, @NeedSomeGuidence.

When you track projects with QuickBooks Time, make sure it is set up correctly. If the project is added in QuickBooks Time, you need to select an existing customer existing customer or sub-customer from the provided list to use it as a project.

If you add a new project that is not listed, add that project in QuickBooks first, then import. It will be added as a Customer in QuickBooks Time. Skipping this option will not sync the data to QBO.

Refer to the steps in this article to review your settings: Set up and use projects in QuickBooks Time
