Can anyone tell me why the check the "screen" box isn't an option in the additional customization template for Projects/Jobs? You can only check the "print" option. I need my sales team to see the project name on the sales orders and or invoices. You can only see it when it's printed as of right now. I am using Quickbooks Enterprise 2021 Contractors.

Please Help!

I'm here to help you sort this out, bdeaton.

We can perform some basic troubleshooting to isolate and resolve the issue. To start, let's update QuickBooks to the latest release. This helps keep your software up-to-date so you always have the latest features and fixes. Please follow these steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Help tab at the top menu.
  3. Select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  4. Go to the Update Now tab.
  5. Put a checkmark on the box beside Reset Update.
  6. Click on Get Updates

Then, let's run the Verify and Rebuild Data utility in the system. The tool scan data issues within the company file and self-resolves them.

To verify data:

  1. Open the company file.
  2. Click the File tab at the top menu.
  3. Select Utilities.
  4. Choose Verify Data.

For rebuild data:

  1. Open the company file.
  2. Click the File tab at the top menu.
  3. Select Utilities.
  4. Choose Rebuild Data.

Additionally, you can create custom templates for your sales forms in QuickBooks. To learn more, please see this article: Use and Customize Form Templates.

So you're telling me that Project/Job checkbox for "Screen" isn't supposed to be grayed out?

Thanks for getting back to us, @bdeaton.

The Project/Job check box in the screen column is grayed out since this is working as designed. However, you can use the Other column and rename it as Project/Job, so your sales team can see the project name on the sales order, invoices. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to Lists.
  2. Choose Templates.
  3. Double click the template your using.
  4. In the Basic Customization window, click the Additional Customization button.
  5. Put a check mark beside the Other box and enter Project/Job in the Title column.
  6. Click OK.

You can also click the Print column, so you can see how it looks in case you want to print them.
