QuickBooks Offline version? It's as if the word "Offline" is taboo when talking about QuickBooks. Since QuickBooks Desktop will no longer be for sale, however, it will still be supported for the next few years (as long as you pay for the subscription). I've been a QuickBooks Desktop Pro user for over 20 years and have enjoyed using QuickBooks as a standalone offline product. We have maintained our "not on the cloud" attitude as some of our customers have requested. This seems to be in jeopardy. Why the push to put our, our customers & our vender financial information out there in the cloud?
Intuit needs to come around and understand that because of this, they may lose a 26-year customer.
Please tell me what product can be used on an INTRANET with 3 users solely OFFLINE with zero access to the internet?
You can still purchase QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus/Premier Plus. I'm sure they will release QB Desktop 2025 Enterprise and keep QB Desktop as long as QB Online users can't migrate their data directly to TurboTax.
A potential problem is that when you use a supported version of QB Desktop, QB program will ask you to access the internet from time to time. Your best option is to use an outdated version of QB Desktop to avoid or minimize internet access.
4Gal, yes, you can still purchase QuickBooks Desktop Pro up to July 31, 2024. Intuit will support it (providing you pay their subscription fees) for a few years after that, however, it will eventually sunset.
My concern is that Intuit QuickBooks Enterprise says nothing about being able to be used a "Standalone" or "Offline" version. We cannot put our customers information in the cloud.
Eventually we can stop paying the subscription and use the QuickBooks Desktop Pro version without ever updating it. This causes a security risk.

Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2024
QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2024
Allow me to share some insights regarding this matter, @DTrainor.
Starting from the year 2022, all versions of QuickBooks Desktop have transitioned to a subscription-based model. As a result, we no longer offer a QuickBooks Desktop edition that comes with a one-time license fee. Therefore, to answer your question, we do not have any QuickBooks Desktop version that can be used without an internet connection.
This applies even if you are a user of QBDT 2024 which requires an internet connection and Google Chrome installed on your computer in order to function properly and provide you with its full range of features and capabilities.
The last edition of QuickBooks Desktop that was released with a one-time license fee was QuickBooks Desktop 2021. However, this version will be discontinued on May 31, 2024. So, if you are planning to use QuickBooks Desktop, you will need to have an active internet connection to use the subscription-based version.
Moreover, for QuickBooks Desktop version 2020 and 2021, you can still use the software. However, certain features such as payroll and online banking will be discontinued, and they won't receive the latest critical security patches and updates. It's important to avoid connecting the computer installed with QuickBooks Desktop to the internet, as it will trigger a login prompt to your Intuit account.

You have QB Desktop with the subscription license. When you stop to pay the renewal fee, you can only allow to access your data for 1 year in read-only mode. Another option, you can use the trial version to access your historical data for good.
Jelayca, I understand that current version of 2024 QuickBooks Desktop Pro must occasionally "look" for updates and check its subscription status on the internet. I understand that this keeps the software up-to-date and bug free.
The previous versions, 2020 QuickBooks Desktop Pro, did not have to do this. We paid for the version about once every three years and checked for updates occasionally to fix bugs and get patches.
What I am saying is that Intuit is now forcing us to have a "subscription" so that our software, that was purchased for our own business use, is now reliant on access to the internet and a current subscription.
What happens if I "air gap" our financial computers and stop paying the subscription? If I own the software and it currently resides on our computers, Intuit will do what exactly? Lock My software and financial software? Wouldn't that be the definition of Ransomware?
4Gal, I just replied to Jelayca's post with this...

I think some are missing my point with this question.
Please tell me what product can be used on an INTRANET with 3 users solely OFFLINE with zero access to the internet?
If we want to continue using QuickBooks as our accounting software, is there a version coming, in the future, where our financial information/database resides on our in-house computers? The software would periodically give you the option to go online and check for updates. I don't mind paying a subscription fee as long as the software is kept up-to-date with patches and we are allowed to download current versions.
I DO NOT want to move our information to the cloud.
If I own the software and it currently resides on our computers,
You never own the software. A license is simply permission to use a product. You only own your company files and you can use the trial version to access them for good if needed.
Hello @DTrainor, I would like to provide you with some useful information about a particular feature of QuickBooks.
It is important to note that complete zero access to the internet is not possible if you are a QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2024 user. This is because QBDT 2024 requires an internet connection and Google Chrome installed on your computer to function properly and provide you with its full range of features and capabilities.
With the said product that you wanted if you want to know more please refer to this link: New and improved features in QuickBooks Dekstop Plus 2024.

Any new desktop program needs to access the internet from time to time to fight piracy.

They will support QB Desktop 2024 until May 2027 as long as you pay the renewal.
I completely understand your point and I share the same concern. I didn't realize that QBDT 2024 was not a stand alone. I lost internet today with my QBDT file open. I received a message saying something like my subscription is not valid and if it isn't validated in 7 days then it will end. It was only then that I realized that I needed the internet to use software that I thought was resident on my own computer and didn't need the outside world to function.
This is EXACTLY why I purchased 2020 version - last disk version for desktop. I will NOT go to the online version, pay monthly fees, have all my data on the cloud etc. I have used QB for nearly 30 years, intuit needs to offer options for everyone. But their greed has brought them to the monthly fees and control for it by forcing subscriptions and online cloud requirements. This will make me go to different options before I cave to this. Just not happening.
This right here. It will be a god d*mn cold day in h*ll before I give a dime to the mother fu*ckers again.
