Possible to add a new business checking account to my combined register (and keep my old bank too)

I have a register called "Combined" where I see my transactions including credit card payments, payments to vendors, etc. I changed my business bank, but am keeping my old one for the moment. For the moment, I have a Combined register and a New Bank register, but they are not combined. . . .

Is it possible to combine them so I can see my total balance between the two?

Possible to add a new business checking account to my combined register (and keep my old bank too)

Hello there, @gatehealing.

Welcome to the Community. I'm here to help you to combine your register and new bank register in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Yes, you can merge these accounts to combine all the transactions into one account. Let's make sure to disconnect your Online banking before merging.

Here's how to merge bank accounts:

  1. Click Accounting from the left menu, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the bank account you want to keep and choose Edit in the View register drop-down.
  3. Take note of the name and detail type. Check if the Is sub-account option is marked. If it's marked, remember the parent account associated.
  4. Click Cancel to go back to the Chart of Accounts.
  5. Select the account you want to merge, then select Edit from the View register drop-down.
  6. Change the Name and Detail Type, then mark Is sub-account as appropriate.
  7. Click Save, then Yes to confirm.

You can check this article for detailed information about Disconnecting or deleting an account connected to online banking.

Once done, you can now start categorizing your transactions, so it'd be easier for you to reconcile them. Here are some resources that you can visit for reference.

Keep in touch if you need any more assistance with this, or there's something else I can do for you. I've got your back. Have a good day.

D'oh! Not sure why I selected QB Online. . . .It's actually QB desktop for mac 2020.

Should I repost this with the correct product selected?

Apologies

I want to incorporate the new checking into the old and not have double checking accounts. I had to change the account number to stop a computer hackers e check. I reconciled the old. The money was transferred into the new and I have two statements with the same ending date 3/31/20.

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Dina Geer. Let me provide you the steps on how to merge your bank accounts. If you are using QuickBooks Online, I advised you to follow the steps my colleague, GraceC, mentioned. Here's how for QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Go to the Accountant menu at the top to get to the Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate and right-click the disconnected account, then choose Edit Account430.PNG
  3. Make the Account Name the same name as the active/new account, then hit Save & Close.
  4. Select Yes on the prompt to complete the process. 431.PNG

That will do the trick! You can refer to this article in the future if you would like to merge accounts, customers, and so forth: Merge Accounts, Customers, and Vendors. Please let me know if you have additional questions. My team and I are here to lend a helping hand. Have a lovely day!
