QB Enterprise support - QB Support charging client

I have a client using Enterprise 22 who started getting lockups and other errors over the past week. They called QB Support and were told multiple files were corrupted and to get things fixed QB would charge them $2,700. Does this sound legit? I understood that support is at no charge with a current subscription.

The client was also told that the file corruption was caused by clicking the X in the top corner instead of closing the company file first. Of course, this is coming from the client. I haven't talked to QB Support about this yet.

Hello there, @Swordbooks.

I appreciate you for sharing this information with us here in the Community.

We take data privacy and security very seriously at Intuit. We are working hard to combat suspected fraud, security issues, and suspicious emails.

In QuickBooks Desktop, we provide Care Plans that offer technical support to help you resolve issues such as data damage. However, the total cost should not exceed $2,700. For detailed information about the different plan options, benefits, and pricing, please refer to the following article: Care Plans for QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Mac.

Moreover, if you need support, please make sure to contact our Technical Support through official channels to ensure that you are talking to legitimate Intuit support. I'm adding the link I recommend below for your reference: Contact the QuickBooks Desktop Customer Support Team.

For more information on overall security education, please visit the Intuit Online Security Center. You can find tips on how to protect your information, computer, and business, as well as report any suspicious activities you may encounter.

I'm looking forward to having this sorted out. I'm only one reply away if you require further assistance, @Swordbooks. Have a good one!

Your client was calling a non legit support. How did they contact "the Support"?

Ask them to run the Verify/Rebuild Data utility. Did they encounter any error message?

Thanks, it does sound like they reached a non-QB support. It just felt off when I was talking with them. One of the things they were told is that they can only hit this no-name error so many more times before they lose all their data. That just shouts Scam to me. I have them reaching out to their IT team to help resolve.

Ask them to contact Support team

Another option, ask them to contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for assistance. They are a third-party service provider that has a good reputation in the community.
