QB Hijacking Browser

For days now, each time I enter a database or switch databases QB opens up my browser to the QB Support Directory. I have reported this to the Intuit chat but it still happens. One person actually asked whether I was sure this was happening - as if I would make up or fake something as annoying at this to my own detriment. 

 

Please fix this or we'll be looking for alternative accounting software that doesn't hijack my browser each time I log in.

@jbutler3  For whatever it's worth, you're not alone.

 

I haven't identified the trigger yet, but Accountant Desktop on my end has behaved similarly several times in recent weeks.

I have contacted them multiple times ("Queenie Mae", "Lovely Girl", "Llyod christian", to name a few) and they barely understand what is being described. I am not using ambiguous or unclear language. 

 

The issue persists today - suggesting articles about maximizing revenue generated and refining strategy are utterly irrelevant to this issue.

I know our IT folks are experiencing the same in their databases on a different network. This is a widespread issue which Intuit has yet to acknowledge.

I'll provide you with a step to fix this so the system won't be directing you to open your browser from the QuickBooks Support Directory when entering or switching your database.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Check for any recent updates or changes in settings causing the issue.
  2. Ensure the program doesn't snag by repairing QuickBooks.
  3. Verify proper hosting settings and firewall/anti-virus permissions.

This is still happening to me... but I can't change any of the items noted, as I'm using QB Enterprise via a remote connection to my CPA.

 

This is extremely irritating to have to close out MS Edge every time I open one of my datafiles. This arrived with the update to QBE 2024... a PITA "feature." 

 

Please let me know what I can change in QBE user preferences, or ME Edge Settings to make this stop.

First, have you already tried following the steps given by my previous colleague regarding how to fix the QuickBooks Directory? If not, please follow the steps below:

 

  1. Check for any recent updates or changes in settings causing the issue.
  2. Ensure the program doesn't snag by repairing QuickBooks.
  3. Verify proper hosting settings and firewall/anti-virus permissions.

 

If the problem continues, please reach out to our support team to investigate the triggers linked to specific details:

 

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Type your issue in the space provided, then select Continue.
  5. Sign in to your Intuit account select Continue and then Continue with my account. If you don't already have an account, make sure to Create a new account.
  6. We'll email you a single-use code. Enter your code and select Continue. If you have more than one account, select the account you want to use and then Continue.
  7. Select to chat with us or Have us call you.
