Buy nowHi - I am trying to copy my 'company' from one subscription to a new one. The new subscription data isn't close to the existing, and the copy action generated a bunch of change requests for really old bill payment entries.
I'm hesitant to change the old entries, since the account has been reconciled and was all balanced.
help!!
I can provide more info if someone thinks they can help.
thank you
teresa
Good evening, @DouglassPTO.
It's great to see a new face around here. I'd be more than happy to take a look at your situation and help you resolve it.
First, I want to ensure that you followed these steps listed on this guide: Make a copy of your QuickBooks Online Advanced company (formerly ChronoBooks).
If you have, then please provide some screenshots or additional information so that I can determine the best solution for you and your business.
I look forward to chatting with you soon!
Are you using QBO Advanced?

Another option, utilize the trial version of this Copy tool.
Hi Candice,
Thank you! I followed all the instructions that were provided by TechSoup and QB- regarding transferring our existing data to the new subscription.
And all conversations that I've had last week with QuickBooks didn't come up with any solutions- it ended with them suggesting I hire an accountant.
Can I make a new backup starting from 2010 and overwrite the new company in hopes that the data will sync better. From the info I'm gathering, I'm not sure options I have.
Or will I have to go in to the new copy and edit everything from the past 20 years?
Attached is a screenshot of some of the required changes that the copy action made. Like I stated in my original message - I am not sure editing the old entries is ok?
thank you so much :)

I can share some information on how to transfer existing data to a new subscription, @DouglassPTO.
You have the option of deleting the current information in your account before restoring the backup data that you have created. The ability to automatically replace existing data after restoring a file without erasing it is currently unavailable.
Visit this post for further information on how to remove the current data on your account: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.
After that, you can proceed with the instructions outlined in the article provided by Candice C above. The following article will walk you through the steps of creating a blank business file, exporting data, and restoring the company file: Make a copy of your QuickBooks Online Advanced company (formerly ChronoBooks).
In case you're using other versions of QuickBooks Online, see the following article on how to get your company file: Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online.
I'm always here if you need more help in transferring existing data to the new subscription by leaving a reply below. Keep safe and have a wonderful day!
