QBO sample company not working

Hi all.  I'm trying to learn the project function myself before walking a client through it.  I'm using the sample company to do so.  Every time I try to click on "Projects" from the left hand menu, I receive an error message.  Can someone assist?  I tried to give more detail but the system keeps crashing and won't let me post.

Let's take advantage of the trial account QuickBooks offered, CFOSecrets!

 

There are limitations when using a Test Drive. I suggest using a dummy e-mail to register in the trial account for one month. Then you can import sample transactions. I'd guide you through the steps in downloading sample data into your QBO trial company.

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon located on the top-right corner.
  2. Under the Tools column, click Import Data.
  3. Choose the types of sample data you want to bring in.

  4. Let's say, if its the Customers data, click on the Download a sample file hyperlink.

  5. Then click the Browse  button.

QBO sample company not working

Hi. I'm using the Sample company as part of a college course on Quickbooks; my text requires me to use Craig's landscaping/sample company to do my homework.

 

However, I can't work with the vendors. I can't add a new one, I can't use an existing one, I can't create a credit card charge back, I can't create a purchase order with a vendor, I can't pay a vendor either.  My whole textbook was built around using the Sample company for exercises and quizzes etc. Am I going to fail because of this?

I'll provide troubleshooting steps to ensure you're able to use the QuickBooks sample company file without any problem and accurately.

 

There are times that that browser is full of frequently accessed page resources. It might cause unusual behavior in the program, such as unable to work with the vendors or add a new one and can't use an existing one. To fix this, I recommend logging in to your QuickBooks account using a private browser. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue, and private browsing doesn't store local files or cache.

 

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using.

 

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

 

If it works in incognito, I recommend clearing the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. You can check this article to see the steps: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

 

If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as alternatives.
