QBs Desktop BBPOS EMV Reader NFC payments

Our firm has had the gray EMV readers, essentially since they came out as the only EMV readers that worked with QuickBooks Desktop without using the mobile app GoPayments; however, we've never been able to configure the NFC to work with cell phone payments or NFC enabled Credit Cards. Our EMV Reader is connected directly to our PC via usb, which is the way we're planning to keep it. Just curious if anyone's been able to use the NFC with this connection.

QBs Desktop BBPOS EMV Reader NFC payments

Hello @OhioCPAGoBucks,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I have some information about QuickBooks Desktop's capability.

QuickBooks mobile card readers allow you to accept credit and debit cards. They range from basic readers for swiping to those that accept EMV chip cards and NFC contactless payments.

The way you can process your customer payments depends on what you're using for your QuickBooks. Currently, EMV readers don't support this payment method.

You'll need an NFC Card Reader with this connection to process contactless payment. To learn more about the Card Reader option, I suggest checking out this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/payments/mobile/#readers.

If you want to know more about your card reader, you can contact our Payments Support Team. They can take over and share some clarification about the features and the limitation.

I've also attached an article you can use to view the complete list of payment options, as well as some details about the deposit times: Process and take payments in QuickBooks Point of Sale.

Fill me in if you have further assistance about using a QuickBooks card reader. I'm always here to help. Take care always.

Thank you for your assistance. I'm explicitly asking if there's a way to enable NFC payments via a usb connected EMV card reader to a PC using QB's desktop; which it doesn't appear to be the case. We are not interested in using a mobile device or tablet for receiving payments.
