Today during our transactions we attempted to email a client their invoice. We have been doing this just fine for years. To my knowledge there are no new updates (all are current) with my computer or for QB. Just to be sure, I checked update status, and even uninstalled and reinstalled QB. We are using QB Pro 2020, desktop version, on one computer only, not cloud based. When we click on send for emailing invoice, the program temporarily freezes and then completely disappears and logs us out. Crash. No message. Have seen posts about this in 2020 but we have not experienced this ever. Using MS Office 365, Outlook email. Tried customer support, they instructed me to check on some email settings under Preferences, but when I even tried to click on a setting in preferences / send reports.....it keeps crashing. Computer is otherwise working fantastic. Was told by online chat support that I would have to pay more for a Plus subscription to get this help. Infuriating, we pay already and we are an active subscription.
Hi there, @ufnetvet.
I admire you for trying all the basic steps to fix the crashing issue you're experiencing.
There was a similar issue about QuickBooks Desktop crashes or stop working when emailing or printing transactions. It has been resolved last June 2022, and at that time, they found out that Microsoft had released a new update for Windows 10 versions 1903, 1909, and 2004.
This can be resolved by downloading these new updates in the Updates & Security under Settings in Windows.
Should the issue persists after following the steps, I'd recommend contacting our Technical Support team. They can take a closer look at the cause and may submit another case to investigate whenever necessary.
Here's how:
Here's an article to help you customize email templates and use them to send messages from QuickBooks in the future.
Let me know if you have additional concerns about emailing your invoice. I'll be here to guide you again.
I will try these steps and let you know. Thank you for the suggestion.
I have the same issue. This happened back in July and again two days ago. I get the qbmapi64 error message and then QB closes down. Cannot get into Preferences to even check settings. I did the update but that didn't fix it. Cannot connect to chat....call back not available until Monday. You would think a service like Quickbooks, that so many depend on. would be available 24/7. I have Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022....this is really bothersome.
Let's make your emailing invoice process successful, GrammaMolly.
Since the above steps didn't work for you, you can set up and use webmail in sending your emails in QuickBooks as a workaround.
Here's how:
See this article for detailed steps share above: Webmail to work with QuickBooks.
I also want you to get in touch with our QuickBooks Team so they can investigate this scenario and come up with a permanent fix.
Here's how:
You'll hear from an agent shortly. Once connected, then they will take the appropriate steps in getting you attached to the list.
If you have any additional questions emailing invoice, please don't hesitate and reach back out to me. I'm here for you. Have a beautiful day.
Thank you for the specific instructions, we did as you instructed and made sure all Windows updates are current on our computer. This did not solve the problem at this time. We will pursue further assistance through technical support as soon as we can find time. Thank you so far for the suggestions
Apologies if this posts twice, I followed the steps you described for making sure all updates were current. There were a few we were behind on, not many at all. This step did not resolve the problem at this time.
