Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2024

I currently have Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2024. What happens in 2027 when the service is discontinued? Will I have the option to use Desktop Pro Plus or Desktop Premium. I don’t want to move to QB online.

Let me provide some information on QuickBooks Desktop discontinuation, Jak1982.

Intuit will stop selling new subscriptions for some U.S. specific versions of QuickBooks Desktop after September 30, 2024, with the following products.

  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll

When your service is discontinued in 2027, you can consider utilizing QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. This change doesn't impact QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise products and customers can continue to purchase Enterprise subscriptions after September 30, 2024.

On the other hand, we also encourage you to consider QuickBooks Online. We've continued to innovate and improve the product so it can meet the needs of every customer, from the simplest to the most complex.

To give you more information about the deadline to purchase a new subscription, I've added this article for your reference: Can't Buy QuickBooks Desktop as a New US Subscriber.

Furthermore, if you want to switch to the Enterprise version, you can check out this article on how to upgrade: QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

Let us know if you have any questions about your QuickBooks subscription. We're always here to get you covered.

Just to clarify. Do you have QB Desktop 2024 Pro or QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus?

Do you have QB Desktop 2024 Pro with a non subscription license?

Can you access CAMPS as the Primary Contact and find your license code there?

We tried the online version and it is definately not going to work for us and apparently not alot of other people either, and Enterprise is just to much for us. So disappointed that QB doesn't support small businesses anymore. If we upgrade before Sept 30th and in 2025 or 26, we decide we don't want to pay for more support, will we still be able to use QB as a standalone. We know we wouldnt have payroll. Basically, will it still be our program?

In the eyes of software companies, small business companies will only earn up to 50K per year.

Your sentiments are valid and I appreciate your feedback about trying the online version, @Thassell1963.

Please know that if you upgrade to a higher version of QuickBooks before September 30th, you should be able to continue using it as a standalone program even if you decide not to pay for support in 2025 or 2026, excluding payroll features. It would still be accessible for your use.

Some clarification is needed here. Will Desktop Enterprise be discontinued too in the near future?  QBO is still not nearly sophisticated enough to replace Desktop Enterprise!

I understand how important it is to have clear information on the tools that are vital for managing your business finances, Kara. I'll provide more clarification about the discontinuation policy.

I want to assure you as of now, there has been no announcement regarding the discontinuation of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Enterprise. Our team continues to support and enhance this version to serve businesses with comprehensive and advanced accounting needs.

To better explain the discontinuation policy, all QBDT 2022 software will be discontinued after May 31, 2025. If you are currently using the 2022 version, you can still upgrade to the latest release before May 31, 2025. After that period, discontinuation takes effect, and users who remain with the 2022 plan will no longer receive security updates and live support.

Products affected by service discontinuation after May 31, 2025:

  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022
  • QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus 2022 (General Business, Contractor, Manufacturing & Wholesale, Nonprofit, Professional Services, and Retail)
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 22.0
  • QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition Plus 2022
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Accountant 22.0
  • QuickBooks Desktop for Mac Plus 2022

Please note that you will still have read-only access to your files after the discontinuation date.

For deeper insights, you can visit the following article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.

Meanwhile, we are constantly working on improving QuickBooks Online (QBO) to bring more sophisticated capabilities to its platform.

If you decide to upgrade to 2024, you'll find the necessary system requirements in this document: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2024.

Staying updated with future developments or changes is crucial to ensure that you continue to employ your preferred QuickBooks version effectively. If you have any further questions or need more assistance, please feel free to ask. I'm here to help.

When we last tried QB online products, it could not import IIF files whihc is how our payroll co. sends them. so we had to revert to the desktop version. Has anything changed or do you have any suggestions?

Hi there, @EHendrickson. The IIF file format isn't used for importing payroll details in QuickBooks Online (QBO). It's only used to export payroll data from Core, Premium, and Elite Standalone Payroll.

However, you can look for a tool that can convert IIF to a CSV file to import payroll data. Or else, you can use a third-party application that's compatible with QBO. You can click this link to find one: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/

Feel free to return here if you have any additional questions.

You have 2 options

1. Switch to QBO, convert your payroll data from IIF to CSV, and use a 3rd tool to import it as journal entries. You can use the trial version of QB Desktop to permanently access your historical data.

2. Continue using QB Desktop and renew your license through a reseller this year. You can get a $300 cashback to reduce costs. You'll continue using your current payroll software and import data as IIF as usual.
