I'm trying to repair my company file using QuickBooks File Doctor but every time it tries to log in it fails and says the username or password is incorrect. I know I'm using the correct username and password since I can log into the file using QuickBooks. QuickBooks support doesn't seem to know why this is happening. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and had a solution. I'm using QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop
Which QB Desktop year version are you using?
Hi there, @linkasink1.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community for support.
To clarify, are you using the Admin username and password when entering it into the QuickBooks File Dr? For example, the username should say Admin, and then your password should be the admin's password.
If you're using the Admin credentials and still running into this issue, it could be that your Admin user is broken. Don't sweat. You can resolve a broken Admin user by changing the password. Since you've stated you can log into the company file, you can change the password from your Company menu. I've included some steps to change the password below.
Just in case you're not using the Admin's profile, you can also change the Admin password from the sign-in screen. For additional details about this process, check out Reset your password in QuickBooks Desktop.
Once the password has been changed, let's try rerunning the QuickBooks File Dr.
Please let me know how it goes. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your reply and look forward to chatting with you soon. Take care!
Thanks for your help. I am using the Admin username and password. I did go through and change the password to see if that would help but it's still having the same problem. I also uninstalled file doctor and tool hub and then reinstalled them through the update now, reset update under help. I then ran quickbooks program diagnostic tool but it's still having the same problem. I checked the security permissions in the properties of the file doctor and made sure it has all the permissions it needs to access the file. Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise 20 is the version I'm using. Thanks

I can not get file doctor to run, I am using QuickBooks pro 2022
I am having the same problem with QB File Doctor on QB Enterprise 2022 version, desktop. I tried all the suggestions in this chain including verify data and rebuild. Nothing works. I can login to the company file using the admin password but File Doctor witl not recognize it. Apparently there is a serious problem with File Doctor.
Hello, DMH.
I appreciate you taking the time to fix the login issue when running QuickBooks File Doctor by following the instructions provided in this thread.
The QuickBooks File Doctor should recognize your login credential since you can access your company file without any problem. I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support. They can access your account and submit a ticket to investigate what's preventing QuickBooks File Doctor from recognizing your login information.
Here's how:
Once everything is functioning well, I encourage you to regularly backup your company files to have a copy in case something happens to your QuickBooks data. I've added this article to guide you through the process: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
