Quickbooks is crashing after updating to Sonoma. What to do?
Solved! Go to Solution.
QBD 2019 is outdated and I am not sure they will release any patches any longer. Consider immediately installing the trial version of QBD 2022 and/or 2023 and using the workaround to get it running on Sonoma. You may have time to consider the option of whether to purchase a new subscription license for QBD 2024 in October OR run a trial version of QB Desktop Windows for good on Parallels OR convert your data to QB Online or another cloud based accounting app.
I'll share some information about the crashing issues, JB.

Don't hold your breath.
Which QB Desktop year version do you run?

Don’t get the 2023 QB as it does not work on Sonoma either. I have QB 2019 and planning on putting it on an older computer since the QB does not work either. QB had no answer and are refunding my money. QB has know about the issue for months if you read the Sonoma beta tester which the QB AI sent me while I was on hold.
I have quickbooks 2022 and it won't even open after the Sonoma update. They just want the $60 per month per file
Hi there -
i am having issues with QuickBook for Mac 2015 crashing after I downloaded Sonoma OS. This is a very serious issue for me as I need to have access to my financial records for my business. Please can someone call me with how to solve for this issue? Thank you. Donna [removed by moderator]

I'm running QB 2023, and it crashes the same as everyone else reports. This should have been tested in beta long ago. Though I'm not surprised at my disappointment.
Same, mac 2019 desktop and can’t get qb to open. I tried subscribing to the online service but qb online doesn’t recognize their own .qb2019 file. What to do?
How did you get it to recognize the .qb2019 file? Qb online isn’t accepting that file format
Install the trial version of QBD 2022 and use the workaround as I mentioned earlier. If QBD 2022 refuses to upgrade your files in one big leap, you may need to purchase a third-party service to upgrade them gradually. Contact me in private for details.
Really need an update from Intuit. QuickBooks 2023 Desktop for Mac is non functional. You charge a hefty fee and this is not acceptable. Come on.
I did the work around and managed to get in. Neither of the good user-friendly windows but okay until Intuit gets their act together. Thank you!
Stupidest suggestion yet. We can't open our QB to "Go to the help menu".
Writing to the attorney general's office. This is nothing short of holding users hostage. You have all of our emails when we registered our software.
Absolutely unacceptable situation. Intuit should have emailed a warning to their users ~ not to update to Sonoma.
You can just do a Google search and see all the people that were beta testing Sonoma complaining about how QB wouldn’t work and that was back in July and August. QB new the problem, but failed to fix it. The QB AI sent me the information while I was on hold for an agent that had no answer. I have been a QB user to 27 years and not being able to access my company information and pay bills is unacceptable. I was able to move my QB to a older computer to get it working, but spent a lot of hours leaning hoe to remove Sonoma and move QB which I shouldn’t have happened if QB had acted when the beta testers to;d them they had a problem.
What is the solution to login to the 2023 version?
