I am having the same issue with creating a Local Backup file to Google Drive. I was provided a NEW investigation number (INV69119) that was opened last Tuesday. It would be helpful to know what the result was from the original investigation number (INV64678).
The entire Backup and Copy process has been a nightmare from the beginning. There is still a major issue that doesn't allow a Copy from one Advanced account to another Advanced account if products and services Bundles are used. It would be great to know if this is related to the same issue above or if nobody is able to create a Local Backup.
To confirm other user's experiences, there is no indication that the Local Backup Copy is failing. I have tried multiple times with incognito browsers under the watchful eyes of Priority Circle and still no success. It does not even create a file for me in the target Google Drive account.
Please share as much information as you can. Thank you!
Copy function on Rewind was sunsetted on 6/29/22. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Hello there, @jmcintosh.
I've come to help guide you on the next steps you need to take to resolve your concern about backing up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced data via the copy function on the Rewind application.
When you're backing up your QBO Advanced data, or you'll want to do it using the copy function of the Rewind application, I would encourage you to reach out to them directly. They can provide you with other options so you can complete your task and back up your data accordingly.
Also, you may want to check out two of our Help articles as your reference to guide you in backing up and restoring your QBO Advanced company:
Please don't hesitate to keep us posted on how it goes. If you have other concerns about backing up your company file, comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care, and have a great day, @jmcintosh.
You can only utilize the QBO Advanced to clone the data and downgrade the plan for the time being.

Can you afford to upgrade to QBO Advanced for 1 month and move back to the previous version after moving your data?
I am using QBO Advanced. I have attempted to use the Copy function on "Online Backup and Restore" from Intuit using the instructions provided in their "help" pages. It has failed 3 times. Each attempt takes 4-6 hours. After the third attempt, I decided to try the suggestion provided above to use Rewind but as I stated in my post, they have sunsetted their copy function and you can only backup your data and restore it to the same QBO company. I don't understand why there isn't a function on any of these platforms that would allow you to import the data into a new QBO company. Intuit should allow it because I purchased a second QBO Advanced plan so they are making more money. But as with lots of things Intuit does, their Copy function doesn't work. That also makes me wonder how effective their Backup and Restore functions are.
Unfortunately we have yet to find any similar app to duplicate data. Last resort, purchase a 3rd party service to duplicate your data.
Have you tried the steps mentioned in this post (manually exporting the data, and then manually importing data to the new company file)?
I have not yet used TransactionPro, but it's 1 of 2 pieces of software that Hector Garcia (ultimate QuickBooks Online & Desktop guru) stands behind.
I'm looking for the other one for you, but you can start here:
https://www.transactionpro.com/data-migration
Read the additional links in that article as well.
I think I have found the other piece of software I was thinking about. It's called SaasAnt Transactions (https://www.saasant.com/)
It's usually used more for importing and has a better price if only using it for short term. (Although it looks like you can do Transaction Importer Pro on a monthly basis now for QB Online)
Between Transaction Pro Importer OR SaasAnt Transactions, you should be able to migrate your data. I would start with TPI first since there's already an actual write-up/walk-thru. You could also call SaasAnt on Monday and figure out if they have the ability to migrate/transfer/copy between 2 QBOnline company files.
I also sent you a private message.
The struggle is real, hopefully rewind will bring back that function as well.
Thank you, It looks like Backup and Restore is working(?) this time. It is still running after 19 hours and has made over 75,000 changes. It never made any changes during the 3 previous failed attempts. Fingers crossed!
I had similar problem. My Google Drive was low on space. I purchased more storage space and it worked.
I came to this forum because I am having the same problem using the local backup to Google drive and it has been over a year since the original poster brought this to the forum.
It seems that the correct and honest answer from QBO should be that you cannot create a backup that will appear anywhere that you can see the file, whether it be Dropbox or Google Drive.
Instead you will be forced to export the data and manually import it into the different QB platform.
In essence QB is forcing its customers to continue paying them a monthly fee to access their accounting data in QBO.
My client needs their data saved for future lookup capabilities and this is just in case it is necessary.. There is no reason this company cannot be backed up and opened in QB Desktop Pro, other than the fact that QB won't allow it.
If this isn't an example of corporate greed, I don't know what is.

You can convert your data from QBO US to get a QBD US file format as archive. You can utilize the trial version for QBD to open the files later.
Can someone tell me if you can back up if you have the Simple Start program? If so, can someone tell me how to do it? I dont need to restore anything, we are changing CPA's and our new one would like to have a current back up copy..... any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Let me sort things out for you, @user67831.
Creating a local back company for QuickBooks Online simple start isn't possible in this version since this feature is only available in QuickBooks Online Advanced.
What we can do is export your data to an Excel file and save it on your local drive, then utilize a third-party application to access your file in QuickBooks Online.
Here's how to Export the data:
Please visit this article to see the list of files that we can export out from QuickBooks Online: Export list and other data.
Furthermore, QuickBooks Online is a cloud-based accounting software it automatically saves your data from within, and you can still open them anytime, anywhere.
You may also visit this page for the available apps that can integrate and manages your files in QuickBooks Online: QuickBooks Apps Store. You can find it in the Search bar or navigate in the Categories section.
I'm delighted to help you today. Ping me in the thread if you still need assistance. Take care.
Any update on this? Still cannot find a backup file within Google Drive
If you are not using QBO Advanced, you can use a backup restore app.
