QuickBooks Scam??? HELP ME PLEASE!

I need help from someone real at QB or Intuit.

I have QB Desktop Premier PLus 2024 with a 2 user license. All of a sudden this weekend one of the licenses is missing and now available even when I sync.

I got a call from Intuit.

Eric White
Intuit Account Manager

Contact Number
[Removed]
Extn 1009

This guy tells me that the best way to fix it is to pay $2177 to get a new license and he will refund $866 to my CC for the original license.

After saying that I shouldn't have to do this because my license is good through next year he tries to have the tech group fix my installation. At the time of this writting they are still working on it.

I feel this is a scam and tell him so. Finally after a couple of hours of this I agree to pay the money with the refund coming back to me for the original money spent.

He then tells me I have to send an email to [email address removed] stating that I approve the amount on my card. Since when does intuit use a .io email address?

I say I will not send an email to that address because it makes no sense to me and tell him to fix my computer.

He hangs up to talk to his tech and calls me back a few minutes later to say I don't have to send the email and they can charge without it.

Can someone from Intuit, preferably from the USA operation, contact me and explain to me if this is a scam or not? If this is how you guys operate then I definitely need to fund a new accounting platform.

Help me please!

Harry.

A simple question. Can you login to CAMPS and find your license code there?

QuickBooks Scam??? HELP ME PLEASE!

Hello,

At the end of everything on this situation my original license was cancelled even though I had said I don't want the 5 year deal. Just fix my licenses that I have paid for.

Was then told that's no longer possible because of the cancellation and that I would get a credit for what I had paid, prorated, and that a new charge of over $2000 was needed to get the new license key.

Had no choice now but to do that because we need access to QB.

I didn't need to send CC number this time, or send an email authorizing a charge and while entering the new license information the gentleman told me to stop. After about 5 minutes or so he asked that we re-enter the original license key, which was cancelled, and then amazingly we had 2 seats available for QB.

I'm supposed to be getting an email today saying that what we have paid for is a 5 year license for QB Desktop and 2 users.

I don't think I am being scammed at this point because the emails that we got were from actual intuit.com domains but honestly this was very stressful. With identity theft being huge and I personally have been affected by it in the past I get very concerned with these things.

I expect more from a multi billion dollar company that provides software that contains the most sensitive data to any company.

Regards,

Harry.

Only scammers offer a 5 year license. As long as you cannot access CAMPS and find your license code there, Intuit will not accept any claims.

I log into camps and can see my license number and number of users allowed and it all looks good.

What am I missing?

Also, how can a scammer fix the license while on the phone from your back end systems?

Did I understand things incorrectly?

Are you guys able to call the "rep" that has been working with us to see if they are real or not?

Can you login as the Primary Contact? You will see that the Next Billing Date should be next year (or next month if you have Enterprise monthly), not the next 4 years as the person told you on the phone. You can make sure your license status by contacting their Support team.

@aline kas-ekm

I would recommend to cancel your license and ask for the refund. Then purchase a new legit license via reputable partner. You can pay for the license after installing and running it on your machine without any problem. You can also get a $100 cashback later.

I have a statement now showing that I have paid for QB Premier Standalone and 2 users - Five years.

Are you telling me this is not valid?

Have you guys even tried to contact the company that may be running this scam to see how they have access to your systems to update license information?

@aline kas-ekm  I am pretty sure even QuickBooks online does not make receipts that ugly.

Also, hilarious that QuickBooks will go out of their way to remove both your and 'their' e-mail address from a post, but won't touch the bit of cc info present.

Check the email address. Intuit inc? Was it coming from ****@intuit.com ?

Are you telling me this is not valid?

I am sure. Not valid.

Have you guys even tried to contact the company that may be running this scam to see how they have access to your systems to update license information?

They bought a valid license from Intuit but they scammed you by telling you that the license will be valid for 5 years. You can check their claims with your license status in CAMPS and I'm sure they will dodge your questions. You must contact your bank to request a refund.

If you are looking for another opinion, you should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA . They are a reputable elite member of the community here and can obtain a legit license. You can pay them after you install the license.

This has been the most stressful thing I have gone through.

We don't see the email until after everything is done and they even had emails come to us from Intuit.Com.

How can you guys allow this to happen is beyond me! You are putting the onus only on the customer to figure this out and even with the help you have provided I am surprised that you haven't taken control of this situation directly and are telling me to go to another partner to get a real license. I really hope others are reading this and helps them avoid scams after you guys sold a license to someone who somehow can resell it to me and has access to your system to update the license number and it looks legit on YOUR camps site.

I expected more from a company of your size but it seems that will not be the case.

Also, why are you directing me to a company in Asia that has no meaning to me. Why can't I buy from you directly with a USA based company?

@aline kas-ekm

Why are you directing me to a company in Asia that has no meaning to me.

First, I'm not part of Intuit. I'm just a member of the community like you.

Second, I recommend a reputable partner to help you with your case as opposed to a company in the US that has been proven to defraud you.

If you don't like my suggestions, this will be my last post. good luck!

Really? an all this time I thought I was speaking to someone from Intuit.

Thanks for your help but now I don't even know if I can trust you. I appreciate your help so far and you probably are being honest but I cannot trust anything anymore.

I can't believe that no one at Intuit even bothers to respond to this thread.

I need a new accounting software that I can get support for and sales for here in the USA.

FishingForAnswers

QuickBooks Scam??? HELP ME PLEASE!

@aline kas-ekm  The only people here from Intuit are labelled as 'Moderator' or 'QuickBooks Team' or similar; everybody else is some variety of QuickBooks customer.

Unfortunately, even among the Intuit people, most of them are either sourced from overseas or, I suspect, ran by some in-house Intuit AI.

If you want someone from Intuit in the US to speak to, I'm afraid you'll be stuck playing telephone tag for a while.

And no, they don't provide a telephone number to start with, except for sales. You'll have to go through the Help menu in your QuickBooks program. The top option should say 'QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us' or similar.

Deity Alpha is correct. You can check Fiat Lux profile and they are at Level 15 as the highest. If you still don't trust them, ask them to let you pay for the license after you run it on your machine.

QuickBooks Scam??? HELP ME PLEASE!

So I thought it would be good to close this situation out with how it all ended.

The guy that called me and scammed me works or worked for Intuit!!! This isn't coming from me. It came from the first of many people we spoke to by calling the QB sales line. No wonder he was able to change things about my license number, send emails to and from intuit and. Not only did he manage to screw up my QB Desktop license but also cancelled out my three QB Online accounts.

After almost 10 hours of being on the phone with Intuit back and forth where a couple of times they said they would call back and NEVER did and eventually our license that we paid for and according to Chase the money went to Intuit we have to cancel the charges as fraud on the account. Even had to go as far as cancelling our card and getting a new number because of this one despicable person working on the inside of Intuit.

I wish I could say that the people we were shuffled to and from at Intuit were helpful. All but one of them were useless. Very sad for a multi billion dollar company. I would expect more from them.

Our account is finally working well. Everything is licensed. If I ever get a call from someone at Intuit again I think the best bet is to contact the FBI or someone like that because its a fraud being committed on unsuspecting people like me from the INSIDE of the company!!!

Good luck to you all and I hope none of your fall into the same trap that I did. I take some of the responsibility for this as I did suspect and various stages I was being scammed and some of you told me I was. But the emails were from the correct domain and Chase bank even told me the charges came from Intuit. In any event I feel like an idiot and hope I have learned something from this.

Good luck to all!
