I have been using Quickbooks 2021. I had a free update to 2022. What it failed to tell me was that I can no longer use my scanner to scan bill of ladings and attach to my invoice. I guess they want me to use my cell phone to scan and attach. This will take me longer to process an invoice and I don't always have my cell phone at the office. I am so disappointed that they took this feature away!! I had to reload 2021! Their 2022 update is useless to me! Plus I keep getting the window telling me to update to 2022 and it won't go away even though I checked the box to say, don't show anymore. I guess I am hoping they do an update and
Good afternoon, @PAT0511.
It's great to see you back in the Community. Allow me to share some insight.
To be sure, what scanner are you using? This will help us ensure if the scanner is compatible the 2022 version.
Also, here's a guide that can help you stop those pop-ups from happening: How to stop popups?
It's my priority that you're taken care of and you're able to run your business. I look forward to chatting with you more about this!
I am using Fujtsu- model #fi-7160. There is no place that I can find on the Quickbooks 2022 to even register this scanner.
Thanks for following up with the Community, PAT0511.
In QuickBooks Desktop 2022, Scan Manager was discontinued. To upload documents (PDFs and images with a JPEG, JPG,
GIF, or PNG file type) that can be attached to invoices and bills, you can use the QuickBooks Desktop mobile apps.
Here's how to upload files with our QuickBooks Desktop iOS app:
Once you've uploaded documents, they can be found in the Doc Center under your Mobile tab. From there, you'll be able to attach the documents in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you're using an Android device, there's also a QuickBooks Desktop Android app that can be used to accomplish this.
In the event you choose to continue using a previous and currently supported version of QuickBooks Desktop, you can use Scan Manager with TWAIN compliant scanners.
Please feel more than welcome to send a reply if there's any questions. The Community's always here to help. Have a lovely day!
Can you guys please add scan manager back to Quickbooks! My files have been updated to 2022 and I cannot go back to 2021. It will take me hours to scan items now. What if something is 12 pages! This is ridiculous that I am stuck now using a product that will take me 10x as long to pay bills!
I think the scanning from your phone is a joke! My cell phone doesn't even work in my office since I can't get a signal. It is much faster to scan from my scanner! Why would they change it! Why couldn't they make both options available. I guess I got a free 2022 update for nothing, since I can't use it!
I am not happy with the phone scanner! It is much faster for me to use my desktop scanner. My cell phone doesn't work in my office so the new 2022 Quickbooks update that I got free is useless to me. Why not give us the option that works best for us!! I downloaded 2022 and didn't know that my scanner wouldn't work so had to go back to 2021.
This is NOT an option! We need the scanning feature back! It is not uncommon for a large invoice to have 50 pages attached to it! Using the phone app is not going to work! You have put us in a world of hurt with our customers. So far I have to open adobe to scan my papers, save to a folder on my computer, then drag and drop to the invoice, bill, or whatever I need to attach. Quickbooks is suppose to be easy, not a cumbersome program. Plus the scanner created a PDF file which I prefer to send to my customers, not a jpg. We are getting busier finally and we do not need something like finding an ap on my phone to take a picture, not to mention finding a place in the office that doesn't cast a shadow on the documnet, then come back to the computer and find the document. So far the attachment feature is useless. Wish I had cancelled my automatic update and kept my money. May start looking for a new program. We've been a Quickbooks customer for 20+ years.
QB obviously has people making changes to the software that DO NOT actually use the software. This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen someone do with a VERY useful feature. Instead of scanning while I am entering the bills and attaching them directly I have to either use my phone (one page at a time) or go to our office scanner and scan them, then go and retrieve them from the scan folder to attach them. Dumb move, FIX IT!!
This is the most ridiculous decision ever for Quickbooks to remove scan manager! Scanning and attaching receipts and documents to transactions is one of the most important and basic features for a business accounting system. The mobile receipt scanning is ridiculous, it is time consuming and not efficient. I will be looking for an alternative software if Quickbooks doesn't bring this feature back, does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative software that will allow direct scanning?
Hi there, dkhorseshoeing.
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. This isn't the kind of impression that I'd like you to have, and we know how essential to have the QuickBooks scan manager in QuickBooks Desktop 2022. With this, I'll ensure you can send feedback so your suggestion is forwarded to the Product Development Team so the said feature will be available in QBDT 2022.
Since we are unable to provide a specific time frame as to when the said option will be back or available again in the future, I encourage you to go to the Help icon and start submitting feedback. These requests and suggestions are forwarded to the Product Development Team for consideration in future updates.
On the other hand, you also have the option to visit our MarketPlace website. You can scan through the site to get a better comparison of the available apps that will allow direct scanning and to achieve your goal.
Lastly, you may refer to this article to see details on how to use barcodes to make data entry faster and easier in QuickBooks Desktop: Set up and use barcode scanning in QuickBooks Desktop.
I'll be around to help if you have any other questions about this concern. Just let me know by leaving a comment below. Have a nice day ahead.
How about simply directing your product development people to the dozens of complaints on your site versus suggesting that we do additional work to send another complaint directly to them?
Suggesting another app that we have to purchase to replace a feature that was very valuable and free? Also, not helpful.
I have sent many complaints to the development team in the past and just recently for the scan manager situation and never get any improvements. For about 5 years now the invoicing part has an issue and every year I think it will be fixed but it has not. We create very large invoices from time to time and every so often while creating an invoice the tabbing from one section of the invoice to another just stops and will only tab between the first two fields. So annoying, we have to ctrl/insert several additional lines to finish the invoice. Sometimes it will happen after only 3 lines have been created. I hope the scanning comes back before long. This is the most ridiculous thing they have done.
I hope you're aware that this was a terrible update. People who do real business using Quickbooks in an actual office setting do not want to use our cell phones to scan documents. I can still use my scanner and attach it but it will now take me longer to scan everything in because I will have to scan and save it elsewhere and then upload it instead of just having it all done at one time. I hope Intuit realizes this was a giant mistake and brings back the scan manager.
Please let us know which app you are referring to on your marketplace that allows direct scanning to a transaction?
I cannot believe that QB has discontinued Scan Manager and you have to scan using a camera. I have paid for two Enterprise full versions every year for many years because of have multiple companies, We have loved the feature to scan invoices (many with multiple pages) as support and now keep hard copies. We have been on version 2019 (even though we have paid for 2022) because we have the QB file on our server. I had IT install QB 2022 and then figured out the scan change. I had to have IT change back to 2019 and we will use 2019 until QB figures out a way for us to scan our invoices directly to QB . Anyone have suggestions for:
1. Third party software that will allow us to scan our invoices and be able to drill back down to QB AP entries?
2. Other accounting software (we will move from QB as soon as we can figure out an alternative) that will allow us to scan our support invoices without doing it page by page on a phone (how dumb is that?).
I cannot believe that QB has discontinued Scan Manager and you have to scan using a camera. Plus your invoice is in jpeg rather than PDF. I have paid for two Enterprise full versions every year for many years because of have multiple companies (That is over $6k a year for QB), We have loved the feature to scan invoices (many with multiple pages) as support and now keep hard copies. Amen! Same here. They keep adding crap that serious users don't want or need, wanting everything to connect to the Internet and our phones. We're also starting to look for another product after 20+ years. They forgot they were an accounting system first. We have three staff that scan attachments daily. They just added an hour of work a day to our staff. Unacceptable!
I agree, the people designing this program must are out of touch with the users!
The decision to delete the scan features is completely detrimental to productivity. I have relied on the scan feature to quickly access my documents for review and now I can't scan and save? Who did this? They clearly are not using the program. I am so disappointed. What a foolish decision on the part of QB development. PLEASE bring it back ASAP!
Removing the scan feature is a horrible decision. PLEASE bring it back ASAP. This is dreadful.
The decision to remove the scan feature is horrible. I rely on the scan feature to quickly save all my receipts. Using a personal phone app in a business environment is NOT a logical option. PLEASE bring the scan feature back ASAP. This is a critical use feature.
Using a personal phone in a business setting is not an option. It makes no sense. The scan and save feature was one of the best user features of QB and now you have removed it. Who made such a stupid decision?
My company went back to 2021 as well. They have shot themselves in the foot with this one!
I wish I would have known that they were discontinuing before I shelled out the cash
for this 2022. VERY UNHAPPY!!
We use QB Enterprise and pay a lot for it. Removing the scan feature is a deal breaker.
we have gone back to 2021 version and are currenty seeking a new software. I have
been very unhappy with support for the last year. You get a quick call back alright but
the person you get knows nothing. They want to keep you tied up on the phone for
hours while they message someone else to find out the answers. They have no clue.
It's sad we have to stay on the phone while they train them. Just time to get something
else..
