Script error after opening Desktop Pro 2020

Thanks for getting back to me, @DaneLamb.

Appreciate the additional info (turning off anti-virus). Windows 10 is a supported Operating System for QuickBooks Desktop 2020. Just make sure to natively install it on your computer. QuickBooks requires you to use Windows natively and not through an emulator or virtual environment.

If you have it natively installed, you'll want to use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool from the tool hub. Here's how:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. In the tool hub, select Installation Issues.
  3. Select QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. Let the tool run. It can take up to 20 minutes.
  4. When the tool finishes, restart your computer.

Once done, open your QuickBooks again. Getting the same results? Please continue Steps 3-5 in this article to resolve the issue: Fix QuickBooks Desktop install errors.

Let me know how it goes and I'm more than willing to assist you further. Have a great day.

Thanks for reaching out to us here today, @DaneLamb.

I have some information about how you can fix the script error. You can download and install our QuickBooks Tool Hub. This is where you can get any tool we have to help fix QuickBooks Desktop issues. Let me guide you how.

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe). Then, follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. Select the Company File Issues tab. This will open the Quick Fix my file and the QuickBooks File Doctor tool.
  6. Choose the QuickBooks File Doctor tool. Follow the steps that'll guide you through the rest.

After running the tool, restart your computer and open your QuickBooks again. For more information about the tool hub, check out this guide: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

Script error after opening Desktop Pro 2020

I opened the Tool Hub and selected Desktop File Doctor, but the program (file doctor) crashed for some reason.  I even uninstalled/reinstalled Tool Hub but got the same windows dialog box that the program has stopped working.  I have Windows 10, and also turned off my antivirus (Avast) temporarily.

Thanks for joining this discussion, @han214t,

I want to know if you're experiencing the same problem other users in this thread are getting. Can you please post here what specifically is going on, so I can help you further? Any details will help.

In the meantime, proceed to repairing software to fix program issues in QuickBooks. To do that, follow the steps below:

  1. Create a back up your company file beforehand to avoid any accidental data loss.
  2. Reboot the computer and tap the Windows Start menu.
  3. Find Control Panel on the search field or select it from the list.
  4. Press Programs and Features then Uninstall a Program.

Note: If you don't see Programs and Features, select Programs instead. Then select Program and Features.

  5. Pick QuickBooks from the list of Programs, then press Uninstall/Change.
  6. Click on Continue, or Next. then Repair.
  7. Press Next again then wait for the tool to start its diagnosis.
  8. Hit Finish when done.

To learn more about repairing QuickBooks and its complete steps, go to this link: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.

If all else fail, I'd recommend that you work with our Technical Support Team again. Our representatives can run some tests on your company file to check what's causing this odd behavior.

To get our Support, follow the steps below:

  1. Open QuickBooks and click the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. On the pop-up screen select Contact us.
  4. Click the Search for Something else button then type your concern in the Ask us anything box.
  5. Hit Search then scroll down to get your contact options.

Let me know how the call goes. I'll be right here if you need anything else with this company file error. Have a good one!

The above error message appears when you try to access QuickBooks. The accounting software uses internet explorer as it default browser and a webpage issue may be preventing you from accessing it. In this case, configuring your Internet Explorer can help you fix it. Here are the steps you can follow:

  • Open Internet Explorer
Go to the Command Bar and select Tools
Select Internet Options and then the Security tab
    Add .intuit.com to trusted sites
    Click Trusted Sites.
Once the Trusted sites window opens, un-check Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone
Type .intuit.com In the Add this website to the zone field
Remove all the other sites from the list in reference to intuit.com as .intuit.com will now cover all intuit sites

  • Open Internet Explorer and from under the Tools select Internet Options.
Next, close the Trusted Sites window
Uncheck the option for Enable Protected Mode
    Close Internet Explorer
