You don't need to run any add-ons, correct? You can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2022 as a workaround.
I do not run an add-ons. Can I use the trial version of Desktop 2022 indefinitely? Currently I use the Desktop Pro Plus. Its my understanding that you can't go backwards after you upgrade to a higher version.
Yes. You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.
I appreciate you getting back to this thread, ddenby. I'll share insights about downloading the trial version of QuickBooks and help you from there.
Yes, you can download the 30-day trial of QuickBooks Desktop, but we can only provide the QBDT Enterprise 2024 and QBDT for Mac Plus 2024. QuickBooks Desktop 2024 requires a 64-bit Windows operating system and will not run on 32-bit.
Once you've verified your computer meets the system requirements, you can install the file and save it in a location you'll remember. You don't need any codes to open the trial version and don't register it, as this could lock you out of QuickBooks. If you want to try this version, you can use this link: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop.
I acknowledge that you have been utilizing QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, and we do not offer a trial for that particular version. You're also correct that once you upgrade to a higher version, you cannot revert to QBDT 2017.
Additionally, I'll be sharing these links that will guide you in installing the file and fixing errors while activating them in QuickBooks:
Please don't hesitate to ask for assistance if you have additional concerns about downloading a trial version or any questions about QBDT. The Community is always ready to lend you a hand. Stay safe.
I have Googled Fiat Lux to no avail.....says it is jewelry, UCLA Seminar???
Fiat Lux is nothing more than the QB site to purchase the online versions!! WHY WOULD YOU EVEN SUGGEST that???
Click their profile name in the community and you will find their website address to send emails.
Have you contacted us by email? We can help to obtain the license of QB Desktop if required.
Hi Joesem,
Thank you! I checked and it looks like my computer meets the requirement:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10885H CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
So, just to be clear:
- I will be able to upload my company files into the QBDT Enterprise 2024 trial version once it is downloaded, correct?
- I won't get software updates or support but I will be able to use the software indefinitly, as long as I don't register the software.
Thank you.
One more question...
If what you are saying is true, then why can't I just let my Pro subscription laspe and use the QB version I already have installed? I am not using QB payroll or any other QB integration services. I never need support and only upgrade or login when they make me. If I just stop paying the subscription, can't I just use the software off-line, knowing that I will not get updates or support?
It seems silly to move to another version of QB if the same thing holds true with the software I currently utilize.
Why does QB play so many games? There are customers out there that do not require all the bells and whistles, why are we forced to pay for them?
Thank you for joining the thread, @ddenby. Let me chime in and provide additional information for the 30-day trial version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2024.
Yes, since your computer meets the system requirements for QBDT, you'll now be able to upload your company files into QBDT 2024 after you download it. However, please note that you won't be able to receive software updates or support since you are not registered, and the trial version is already updated.
In addition, since QuickBooks Desktop is now a subscription-based software, you can no longer use it offline once you opt to discontinue or stop paying the subscription.
For future reference, you can check these articles to learn more about how to set up QBDT and fix errors when entering your product and license numbers:
If you have further concerns about the trial version, please tag me in the comment section, @ddenby. I'll assist you in any way possible.
Clark B,
Once again I get an answer that is not clear, all of you talk in sort of a word salad.
I do not use any of the online services. I don't need software updates or support.
I want to use the desktop version on my computer for free, no subscription. If I allow the QB Destop Pro Plus subscription laspe, can I still use the software on my computer as a standalone. I save my company files on my computer (off-line) when the software prompts me to do so.
My question is CAN THIS BE DONE.

You can use the trial version to access your historical data for good. You should contact Fiat Lux for details.
Intuit QB support supervisor told me yesterday they're phasing out all desktop versions. IF you subscribe by Sept. 30 for QB desktop 2024, for $650 for one year, then you can renew it 1 year later for $999, and then a year after that for a lot more (but amount not yet announced). Then it stops working in (or after?) 2027.
Beware and spread the word!
You can still purchase QB Desktop Accountant and QB Desktop Enterprise after Sep 30.
Let me route you to a thread for more information about QuickBooks Desktop subscription, @Ted939.
The information you have collected is inaccurate. I suggest checking out my colleague's response to your similar post in the Community. Click this link to view the thread: Solved: Re: Working Offline with QBO.
If you still have more concerns about your QBDT subscription, please don't hesitate to leave a comment on the thread. Have a great day, and take care.
