I do not run an add-ons. Can I use the trial version of Desktop 2022 indefinitely? Currently I use the Desktop Pro Plus. Its my understanding that you can't go backwards after you upgrade to a higher version.

Yes, you can download the 30-day trial of QuickBooks Desktop, but we can only provide the QBDT Enterprise 2024 and QBDT for Mac Plus 2024. QuickBooks Desktop 2024 requires a 64-bit Windows operating system and will not run on 32-bit.
Once you've verified your computer meets the system requirements, you can install the file and save it in a location you'll remember. You don't need any codes to open the trial version and don't register it, as this could lock you out of QuickBooks. If you want to try this version, you can use this link: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop.
I acknowledge that you have been utilizing QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, and we do not offer a trial for that particular version. You're also correct that once you upgrade to a higher version, you cannot revert to QBDT 2017.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10885H CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
So, just to be clear:
- I will be able to upload my company files into the QBDT Enterprise 2024 trial version once it is downloaded, correct?
- I won't get software updates or support but I will be able to use the software indefinitly, as long as I don't register the software.

One more question...
If what you are saying is true, then why can't I just let my Pro subscription laspe and use the QB version I already have installed? I am not using QB payroll or any other QB integration services. I never need support and only upgrade or login when they make me. If I just stop paying the subscription, can't I just use the software off-line, knowing that I will not get updates or support?
It seems silly to move to another version of QB if the same thing holds true with the software I currently utilize.
Why does QB play so many games? There are customers out there that do not require all the bells and whistles, why are we forced to pay for them?

Yes, since your computer meets the system requirements for QBDT, you'll now be able to upload your company files into QBDT 2024 after you download it. However, please note that you won't be able to receive software updates or support since you are not registered, and the trial version is already updated.
In addition, since QuickBooks Desktop is now a subscription-based software, you can no longer use it offline once you opt to discontinue or stop paying the subscription.

You can use the trial version to access your historical data for good. You should contact Fiat Lux for details.
Intuit QB support supervisor told me yesterday they're phasing out all desktop versions. IF you subscribe by Sept. 30 for QB desktop 2024, for $650 for one year, then you can renew it 1 year later for $999, and then a year after that for a lot more (but amount not yet announced). Then it stops working in (or after?) 2027.
Beware and spread the word!
You can still purchase QB Desktop Accountant and QB Desktop Enterprise after Sep 30.

If you still have QuickBooks Desktop Version 2017 in your computer, call your CPA to see if they have a backup of your data. If they do, restore the company data file backup into your computer and open it in QuickBooks Version 2017. If you are not familiar with restoring a company data file, your CPA may be able to help, or you can contact a private QuickBooks consultant for help. If you are successful in restoring your data file, you will still need to re-enter the accounting activity you have done since you upgraded to the QuickBooks online version, but it does not necessarily need to be re-entered transaction by transaction. If you print out a separate general ledger report for each year's activity since your last Version 2017 entry, you should be able to record your missing entries to date using General Journal Entries, along with entering some additional transactions. If you don't know much about accounting, you will need someone who knows both accounting and QuickBooks Desktop to help or make those entries for you. It does get somewhat complicated because of outstanding checks, customer invoices and deposits, accounts payable outstanding invoices, etc. but it is doable. I would love to help you but do not know the rules in this forum about giving or getting contact information. You could also Google "Fourlane". I am sure they could help you. I believe they are located in Texas. A WORD OF CAUTION: If your QuickBooks Desktop Version 2017 becomes damaged in any way, QuickBooks Tech Support will not help you repair it. If you purchased it online, you should be able to re-download the program to install it again. Or, if you purchased it at a retail store and still have the disc, you should be able to restore it, but your program will not appear online because you purchased it at a retail location. I do QuickBooks Desktop small business consulting and have the desktop versions 2012 through 2024 in my computer. My computer crashed earlier this year and I was able to re-install all of the versions but wasn't able to get my version 2017 to work, so called tech support. This was after the July 31st and September 30, 2024 cut-off dates and QuickBooks Tech Support would not help me troubleshoot my program problems and I haven't been able to get it to work even after re-installing the program. If this happens and you end up having problems with your program, you will have to either upgrade your data file to a QuickBooks Enterprise subscription (Expensive!) or to a QuickBooks Online version (YUCK!). You could also research other small desktop accounting but none of them hold a candle to QuickBooks. I wish you luck!

You can purchase a reused license of QB Desktop 2017 if required.
They are now charging me 89 per month for Desktop QB Accountant. I was paying 38 in 2021. This price jump is ridiculous. I am now searching for other solutions. Does anyone know of a good alternative they would recommend?
