Today's update killed my QB Desktop...Help? The screenshot below is what I get when I open the software. No matter whether I send the report or not, it closes my software.

Let me help you fix the unrecoverable error as soon as possible, @Sharal.

 

The operating system may have encountered issues during QuickBooks updates. That said, I suggest performing some troubleshooting when running QuickBooks Desktop. Let's start by running QuickBooks with administrator privileges to see if it work again.

 

You can right-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon on your desktop (or start menu) and then select Run as administrator.

 

If the issue persists, I suggest following Solution 4 in this article: Unrecoverable Error: General Troubleshooting Steps. It also covers other specific solutions based on the scenario you're getting. From there, make sure to download the QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix errors and issues.

Today's update killed my QB Desktop...Help? The screenshot below is what I get when I open the software. No matter whether I send the report or not, it closes my software.

I downloaded the Tool Hub and followed all the steps 3 times. Rebooted computer as directed. QB still won't open. I get as far as inputting the password and then get the Unrecoverable Error popup.

 

I'm tired. I've tried everything I can think of and everything that has been suggested. Is it possible to uninstall QB and then reinstall to start from scratch? Would uninstalling QB affect my data file?

 

I need QB to work. I have paperwork piling up and cannot be down during the first of the month. Can anyone suggest anything else or confirm that I can reinstall my QB program file and then access my company file?

I am using Quickbooks Pro Plus 2021 (Desktop version) and Windows 10.

I have done everything you suggested on at least 2 different days. My Quickbooks is still dead.

 

As a last resort, I am considering uninstalling and reinstalling Quickbooks to start from scratch. However, I am concerned about losing my company file and years of data.

 

It has now been almost a month without being able to access my Quickbooks. I am completely stressed and this cannot continue. 

 

I NEED, and cannot express this thought clearly enough, NEED Quickbooks to start working again.

 

If someone has any ideas, please let me know. I've tried all the basic trouble-shooting techniques and I am an experienced user, but this has me completely baffled.

Since the issue persists after completing the instructions above, I suggest clicking each article below. These provide another step that should be done to fix issues when you can't open QuickBooks and to resolve issues that cause QuickBooks Desktop to stop working. 

 

 

On the other hand, please note that uninstalling and reinstalling Quickbooks can help fix company file issues w/o affecting your company data at all.

i have an old version of QB.  it has served me well until an update of windows this weekend.  i too cannot get into my QB and because of the age of my QB the support will not speak to me. No loyalty. I have everything on my business in my QB.  i am completely lost. it says to make new password, I have probably 20-30 times.  it says i am using wrong pw or login. i am not. something happened i cannot explain but after google searches i realize it has happened to 1000s of people after the windows update. i feel that if i could get my QB onto another computer that didnt have that update and bring in a backup i could open my qb again. but no help from intuit. Sad. I will not purchase again because of this lack of loyalty when i need them the most.

2013.  I spent eight hours trying to move everything from my desktop onto my laptop, and it was a complete waste of time. It ended with Intuit Refusing my entry with my password onto my laptop. Followed All the instructions. Change the password multiple times again. I thought maybe opening QuickBooks on a computer that did not have that windows update might be the trick, but evidently it’s not. I truly believe that tech-support could help my situation but because it’s a 2013 version my business is locked. I have purchased QuickBooks two times. I just feel like minimal effort on ‘supports’ part could get my QuickBooks open. My entire business is at a stand still. I Cannot access anything, invoices, estimates vendors. All of my pricing.

Can you access CAMPS and find your license code there?

You can try to reset your Admin password. Another option, purchase a 3rd party Admin password reset service.
