When I try to verify my account this shows:
Verify Employee YTD Bal : ytd out of balance. Name =John Doe Ref= 3009
This all of a sudden showed up for every employee past or present. Rebuild does not work. What should I do and how would I find this specific error that was not there just a few months ago?

Hello there, @Camisno.
I appreciate the details and the steps you've taken. I can help you resolve the data issue in your QuickBooks.
The Verify result shows that John Doe's YTD is out of balance. You'll have to go to your employee's profile and look for the transaction with Reference number 3009. If necessary, you have to delete and recreate that transaction.
If you need additional help, you can also get in touch with our phone support agents. They can initiate a screen sharing session with you to better isolate the issue.
That should point you on the right track, Camisno.
Let me know if you're able to surpass the error. I'm still here to help you more if you have follow up questions. Just add a comment below or mention my name.
Has the file been sent to QuickBooks Windows?

Thank you, yes I called. They said it was not technically an error, but was a result of backup/restore from quickbooks windows to quickbooks Mac. So since there was no other message, there is no problem.
Thank you!
Yes, I had forgotten that my computer crashed last year and the most recent backup I had on hand was the windows conversion from my cpa. They said since Windows Payroll is run in the program vs. Mac online payroll the transactions were foreign to the program. They said I could delete and re-enter every payroll entry or forward to their service team with a paid protection plan. I chose to live with it. Thank you for your help!
If it ever goes back to Windows have them try a File->Utilities->Rebuild over there. But I don't think it will cause any harm on the Mac side.
I am having the same problem with verification failing after rebuilding data. I am getting a message on all employees....present and past saying "Verify Employee YTD Bal : ytd out of balance. Name = XXXXXXXXXXX. Ref = 5."
I have searched for transactions with matching reference number but I cannot find them.

I am having the exact same issue in Quickbooks for Mac. I use Intuit Online Payroll because Quickbooks payroll is not compatible with Quickbooks for Mac. I have searched for the transactions using the reference numbers with no luck. I have tried several times to rebuild the data, but keep coming up against this verification issue. I have no way of knowing which transactions are creating the issue.
