The void button appeared for me finally. I was able to void and quickly fix and refile. Hopefully it appears for everyone else.
I am curious about the same thing. Had one rejected today but that "void" button is non-existent on QB Online.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Info and Abra.
For rejected 1099 filings, we currently have an ongoing investigation about being unable to void forms. Rest assured that our engineers are diligently implementing a fix as soon as possible so you can update the incorrect information on your 1099s and e-file again.
While the investigation is continuing, I recommend reaching out to our customer service team so they can add you to the list of affected users. This way, you'll receive email updates about the status of the investigation. Here's how:
If your 1099 filing did not appear as rejected, please know that the option to void is no longer available once you've successfully submitted your forms. If you need to make corrections, you need to work directly with the IRS.
Furthermore, you may want to print your 1099 forms in QBO so you'll have a physical copy for record-keeping.
Please don't hesitate to return to this thread whenever you need additional guidance in voiding your 1099 filing in QBO. We'll be more than glad to offer assistance. Have a great day ahead.
My 1099 forms were rejected and I see them listed as such. But where is the VOID button? I can't find it.
Hi Jae -- Where is the Void button? I see nothing and I have to void a number of 1099 forms. Thanks.
Same thing I am on the phone with support you guys don't have a button this is a MAJOR glitch we need to file out 1099's by Feb1st or we can get penalized why the hell do you offer this service if we can't fix it?
Also no void button for us contrary to the 1099 form clearly listing rejected. Thanks!
Hello there, everyone.
I'm here to help you connect with the right support team to assist with this 1099 void button issue.
We have a newly opened investigation about the void button not showing on the 1099 page. Currently, our product engineers are implementing a solution. I would recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support experts to add you to the list of affected users and receive updates once it's available.
Here's how:
In addition, you'll have to manually submit an amendment to the IRS if you need to make changes.
If you require further assistance with voiding your 1099, please post them in the comment below. I'll be happy to help.
Since we're now all following this thread -- can you post an update here so we know when the Void button is added? Or at least a time frame on when to expect it? Better than all of us each calling support in vain. Thanks.
Same. No 'Void' button on mine and I need to void three 1099's. Hope we can get this button soon before we get penalized!
Support told me it will be resolved tomorrow.. lets see lmao..
Sorry to disagree. Customer service cannot help with this issue. I was told to wait until February, and the Void button would appear. That is ridiculous. Why did an email with detailed instructions go out to us detailing the VOID button use when the system does not have a VOID button?
I received an email from Intuit with the following instructions. However, there is no void button. This is very frustrating.
Next Steps: Void your forms and start your e-filing process again from the beginning. Don't worry, your info will be saved! Log in to QuickBooks Online and go to "Taxes" and "1099 filings". Click on the "Void" button at the top of the page Restart the 1099 process from the beginning. Make edits to your company info on the first step, and follow the steps all the way to e-filing confirmation Wait for the confirmation email in your inbox, and monitor in the 1099 filings tab the status of your filing.

Abegail,
The customer reps do not know what we are talking about when we describe the issue and ask to be placed on the list. So, I have told my story via chat 4 times now. Please do not give a cookie-cutter response each time about what to do. The right-hand does not know what the left hand is doing.
I just tried again and got someone helped me with being added to the list and said he will send me an email verification.
I assume you cannot file another 1099 without voiding the rejected one
I assume you can't file another 1099 for the rejected one. This would be a good workaround until you can void the rejected one. Very disappointed and very bad planning on Intuit's part not having this working
This is ridiculous.
Now you know this is a widespread issue. We all got the same rejection email today and you will have thousands of views of these posts by the end of this week.
STOP ASKING us to do something for you and waste the limited amount of time we have before tax season on having the same conversation one thousand times with your people. Wasting time is not INTUITIVE.
We understand glitches happen. The community here is letting you know our issue.
So now please anchor this page and consolidate all the new "1099 void" questions that are and will pop up before the end of the month, SO PEOPLE DON'T GO CRAZY looking for the void button that you ask us to look for in the rejection notice.
Then say something like "We ask for your patience and understanding regarding the rejected 1099 forms. We appreciate your business. We will post in this thread when the issue is resolved. Intuit Management"
There half of the work is done for you. You Welcome!
I really like QBO I've been here for a while. But man y'all are really losing sight of the flagship product.
Are there any updates? I also cannot find the void button. I tried to call but it's after hours.
If the void button isnt going to be available can you provide the instructions as to how to file amended versions to the IRS...do we need to file using paper forms? How do I get corrected 1099s to our contractors when all that is wrong is we had a typo in the EIN for our company.....
Can I not just handwrite the correct Payer EIN on the form and let them use those?
When everything is automated there has to be a work around for when automation fails.....
We want you to come across a different experience than this, Desoree.
Yes, you're correct. You'll need to file using paper forms. I'm here to help you file the 1099 to the IRS.
Here's how:
Furthermore, you can check this article which has detailed instructions for filing 1099: Instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC.
We appreciate your patience while our team is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
The void button appeared for me finally. I was able to void and quickly fix and refile. Hopefully it appears for everyone else.
I do see the "Void" button now; however, I'm not why my initial filing was rejected to begin with.
However, of note, even though it went through and worked last year...
The 1099's I prep in QB Online do not match what I'm putting in. Specifically, the "Payer's TIN" block is showing the format as xx-xxxxxx when it should be xxx-xx-xxxx because we used a SSN because we are a Sole Proprietor.
No matter what I do on the front end in Company Section under Account and Settings, the actual form that is prepped shows the format as xx-xxxxxx.
Also, since I am a Sole Proprietor, should the Payer's Name block show my actual name or the business' name?
Same thing happened to me and I was finally able to see the "void" option this morning. HOWEVER, it is important to note that I had to actually call the IRS to figure out why my 4 1099-NECs had been rejected.
Comparing with the 2022 year which had no issues and were IDENTICAL to the 2023 which were rejected, it seems IRS accepted 2022 when I filed them last year without issue, YET previous to 2021 I noticed that BOTH our legal S-corp business name AND our DBA would appear on the 1099s. I had not even noticed that for the 2022 year, Intuit ONLY printed our DBA and although they were accepted by the IRS last year, this is the actual reason why our 2023 1099s were REJECTED now - only shows our DBA and not the business's legal name.
I went into the General QBO settings and discovered that "somehow" our legal business name mysteriously disappeared! Whether it was a system update glitch that occurred well over a year ago I can only speculate.
I entered our legal S-Corp name and still shows the DBA name for other items like invoices, etc.
When I went to create new corrected 1099s it now ONLY shows our legal business name and the DBA does NOT show on the line underneath as in all years previous we've been doing this since 2010!
This prompted me to have to call QBO support and they were really no help in understanding why QBO removed our legal name in the first place, and why now QBO will only populate the 1099s with the legal name and not include on the line underneath the DBA name as has been done in all years previous - EXCEPT for 2022 which somehow the IRS accepted (our 1099s with no legal name and just DBA).
On the new ones I am preparing this morning, in the PREVIEW window before filing, I do NOT see the "Corrected" box checked - I am hoping that this means the recipient never received the original ones which are not voided because if they did, and now these are submitted without the corrected box checked, we are going to have big problems.
These corrected 1099s better NOT be rejected again.
