Resources for Quickbooks Premier Desktop Nonprofit to Quickbooks Online Advanced

I am transitioning from QuickBooks Premier Desktop Non-profit edition to QuickBooks Online Advanced.  Are there any resources or guides for users of this specific scenario?

As a volunteer I have been using the above desktop version for about seven years to track donations, donors, expenses, and finances with various accounts.  There are no employees.

Thank you!

Yes, QuickBooks provides resources to help you smoothly transition from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), j45780. I'll gladly provide the details and the procedure below.

There are various ways you can move your data from QBDT to QBO. The following are your options:

Before proceeding, please see how your features and data move from QBDT to QBO. Then, you can watch how-to videos to guide you in completing the migration process.

If you opt to move your desktop file to the online version manually, start by getting your desktop data ready (for example, making sure your company file isn't too big to export). Afterward, move it to QBO.

For QBDT Pro or Premier, here's how:

  1. Sign in as an admin.
  2. Go to Company, then select Export Your Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  3. Select Get started.
  4. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.
  5. Select Choose online company, and choose the company you want to replace with your company file, then click Continue.
  6. Enter Agree in the text field, then select Replace.
  7. Select Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then click Replace.

For the step-by-step guide, check out this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, I've included these references to guide you on what you need to do after you move from QBDT to QBO and answer the most commonly asked questions about the said procedure:

Stay in touch if you need further assistance while working in QBO. I’ll get back to help and make sure you’re taken care of. Enjoy the rest of the day.
