i noticed my 2020 transaction, the payables were split to other nd trade payables, which in year 2019 an 2018, all payables were put under trade payable. How do the system split the transaction between this two? and can i adjust back all transaction to trade payable

Hello there, zaiha.

We can review the transaction journal to see the affected accounts. Then, you can manually edit each transaction and then categorize it under trade payable. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Chart of Accounts
  2. Look for the other and trade payable account. Click View register
  3. Select a transaction and select Edit.
  4. From the opened transaction, click the More menu at the bottom.
  5. Select Transaction journal
  6. Go back to the transaction and edit the account category.

Let me share some information about viewing the register in your account, zaiha

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we can view the register if the accounts have balances or QuickBooks Balances. For the income and expense accounts, we can only run a report since they don't have any balances.

view register1.PNGview register2.PNG

If you're trying to view the register for the accounts with balances, let's try signing in to your account using a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues. Here's how:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

Then, try to view the account's register and add items to the accounts again. If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. Web-based platforms like QBO collect cache files (cookies) to save you time, but this can impact processes and cause them to not work. You can also use other supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Feel free to reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.

Let me help you from here, Zaiha.

Once you click View register or Run report, you'll find the transactions under the account. From there, you can select or open the transaction, and categorize it.

It looks like the Edit button you've clicked is to edit the account itself. You'll have to open the account's register or report so you can update the transactions.

I'll include this article as a future reference: Learn about the chart of accounts in QuickBooks.

Hi there, zaiha.

It seems that this is a duplicate post. My colleague already posted their response.
