Vendor time

How do I enter time sheets submitted by vendors and create customer invoices using vendor time?  I have all contractors set up as vendors and have selected the 'vendor eligible for 1099' field.

I can help you create an invoice out of the timesheet that you created, @ETS2.

When you create a timesheet, just set this one up as billable. A billable expense is an expense you incur on your customer’s behalf when you perform work for them.

When you create an invoice after setting it up as billable, you can now create an invoice based on the billable time and costs that you tracked. Just click on the Billable checkbox beside it. Check the screenshot below:

See this article for more information: Create and print timesheets.

When you create an invoice for the customer, just choose Select the outstanding billable time and costs to add this invoice and then OK

Click the time that you want to create an invoice from the Choose Billable Time and Costs window. Then, hit OK once you're done.

You can check out this guide for more information: Create an invoice in QuickBooks Desktop.

Here's also a reference on how to receive payments for an invoice in QuickBooks Desktop: Record an invoice payment.

You'll want to make sure to enable time tracking in the Preferences Tab. To do this, you can follow the steps below.

  2. Go to the Edit menu. Then select Preferences.
  3. In the Preferences window, select Time & Expenses.
