Why would my 1099-NEC keeps getting rejected? I have filed the same forms every year without issue.

I had the same issue. I have had EIN since 2016.  I contacted the Irs and EIN was not matching. So, I just got a new EIN. So wierd.  1099's still getting rejected.  Yet, my contractors received the 1099 in mail today from QB with old EIN.

Why would my 1099-NEC keeps getting rejected? I have filed the same forms every year without issue.

Hi there, I have submitted my 1099s 5 times and they keep getting rejected. No changes from last year but contacted IRS and suggested that i sign up for a EIN instead of my SSN as the ID. So I did that and I am still getting rejected. I need help to a resolution because everything matches what the IRS has on their side.

Why would my 1099-NEC keeps getting rejected? I have filed the same forms every year without issue.

I'm curious what status is showing for other people who got the rejection email from QBO? The first time my 1099's got rejected, it showed "Rejected", but the second time QBO told me that they were rejected, the status actually shows "Accepted", so I'm confused. Such a hassle.

I'd also feel the same way when the 1099 status doesn't match, @CoolMoney.

I'm here to help guide you in the right direction to help you with this issue.

Have you received an email with the reason why it shows Rejected? If not, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Online Payroll Support Team. Since it only shows as Rejected in QBO. This way, they can assist you in verifying on their end and explain further about it.

  1. Go to Help (?), then click Contact Us.
  2. Please enter your question and select Let's talk.
  3. Review and Select from the following: Have us call you or Chat with us.

Learn more on how to resubmit rejected 1099 forms to the IRS by following the instructions in this article: Fix rejected 1099 forms.

If available, you can also print those forms to save a copy of them. For further guidance, you can visit this reference: Print your 1099 and 1096 forms.

Can you guys stop copy and pasting the same thing that doesn’t help anybody?  The call center also does not help anybody.  I’ve called 3 times and I’m in some huge call center with lots of noise and no help at all.  Time to look for other options for business software. Can’t have this happen again with zero answers

What is the solution for rejections with Intuit Quick Employer Forms, through ProSeries?  You say to void the payee, but Quick Employer Forms doesn't allow that.  It says I cannot void or delete anything that has already been efiled.

This request is about ProSeries Quick Employer Forms (QEF), it is not about Quickbooks or Quickbooks payroll.  Please send me information about QEF.

I also just worked with customer service for over 30 minutes and refiled. Just received another email saying the forms were rejected!

Is there an actual fix for this issue? Because I have now submitted 4 times in the last two weeks and still being rejected. My information has been exactly the same for many years and this is the first time this has been an issue.

Please let me know how to resolve this.

Thank You!

Same exact issue with me.  QuickBooks has no idea how to fix it. The call center is terrible. It is very frustrating and unacceptable

Hello ,

What if i checked the 1099s and mY business legal name along with my EIN and everything is correct but I still get rejected, how do I resolve this?  Do I need to apply or update any records for 2024 with the IRS?

Why would my 1099-NEC keeps getting rejected? I have filed the same forms every year without issue.

Hello, I am not sure if this will help anyone, but I wanted to add this message in case it does.

My 1099s this year were rejected also, and like many have stated I have not ever had this issue before.

I went to my business attorney, and we looked through all of my business paperwork/ documents and noted that my EIN was in my personal name. If you look at your EIN paperwork issued by the IRS, this will be the TOP line. Whatever is on the TOP line is what the IRS attributes to your EIN.

My State paperwork (articles of organization--may be a different name in different states) has my legal business name, which is what I use as my "legal business name" when filing.

Once I changed my legal business name to the TOP line on the EIN paperwork, I got a message that the IRS accepted these 1099s.

Also, when I called the IRS and asked if it was okay that my EIN was in my personal name, they said that since I am a single-member LLC / disregarded entity for tax purposes, this is appropriate. However, I have gotten different advice on the same question from the IRS previously, so I need to discuss more with the CPA and business attorney to make sure as well.

Again, not sure that this will help anyone as I am sure all of our situations are unique. But wanted to add here in hopes maybe it can help someone resolve their issue with filing 1099s this year. If you have a business attorney or CPA who can assist, I highly recommend their assistance as well. I am definitely not the expert, but I just wanted to share my personal experience in resolving this.

Quickbooks has no idea how to fix this issue, and they are trying to keep the money charged for filing with their broken system. They keep passing the buck to their call center which has been told to pretend they don't know. Bottom line someone needs to start posting this issue everywhere so when people search they know not to use their system next year.

QB/TT: YOU SHOULD PROVIDE THE OPTION TO PRINT 1099 COPY A if the IRS continues to reject our 1099s. I have the same issue as everyone in this thread, and will have to Jerry-rig a COPY A to file by mail.

IS THERE ANY WAY TO PRODUCE A 1099 COPY A THROUGH YOUR 1099 SOFTWARE ?

Why would my 1099-NEC keeps getting rejected? I have filed the same forms every year without issue.

I understand how important it is to submit your 1099 NEC on time to stay compliant and avoid any related issues, Jbs222. I also understand the inconvenience this may have caused you.

To fix your rejected 1099, I recommend that you review the alerts on the page, as they will indicate why the IRS rejected your 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC filings.

If the page displays the following reasons for rejection - Your company's legal name, EIN, or SSN doesn't match IRS records exactly, or the contractor's address(es) doesn't match IRS records. The most common reason for this is an incomplete ZIP code, wrong state, or a non-US address. Please comply with these instructions and then attempt to resubmit your 1099 forms again.

To fix the rejection, you must void your 1099s, update the incorrect info, and then e-file them again.

However, if you have already complied and are still experiencing rejections, I suggest that you contact our  QuickBooks Online Payroll Support team. They can provide specific information and offer assistance in addressing your concerns.

It's worth noting that if your 1099 form has been rejected, you can still print it out using QuickBooks. However, it's essential to be aware that the form will appear in red to indicate that it has been rejected. If you need to print a copy of the rejected form, you can follow these steps to do so:

  1. Go to Taxes, then select 1099 filings.
  2. Select View 1099 to view a PDF copy.

If you don't see the archived or previously filed 1099, contact us to get a copy.
