Good morning. I've been sending money to Intuit for more than a decade for each of several Intuit products, perhaps 15 years, and I am very glad indeed to see the vast improvement from the 40 (forty) minutes on hold to today's remarkably prompt, well-informed, and -- wait for it -- dedicated to success and extremely pleasant folk in the Philippines, each one with whom I have spoken earns, deserves, and ought to gain, a fifty percent increase in salary-or-wages.
>
It's a smart move by Intuit.

But this morning I have -- I am not making this up -- a need to goAgain (go through the exercise of opening a company file ["Open a company file", the one event which is the universal start for every one of millions of us, we who send money to Intuit, the one event which after fifteen years would have gotten successful Intuit-TESTING], having met "ERROR 48".
>
I'm running Win-10 Pro on a box with the Fortza del Destino, and I have been writing (and teachng) software for 53 (yes, fifty-three) years.
Why in the name of a forgiving god would Intuit not
(a) list every error code with commentary, every single error code, and
(b) give their Coldwater All to make "ERROR 48" go away?

Hi there, ThomGrayRome.
Thanks for being a loyal QuickBooks user. I appreciate you letting us know about your experience reaching out to our Technical Support Team, especially for the error you’re receiving when opening the company file.
Feedback like this will help improve the level of service we provide to our customers. It guides us on how to make the program work better for you.
I’m here to point you in the right direction, so you can open the data file smoothly. I checked with my tools to see if there are any reported cases similar to yours, but I found none.
Let’s perform some troubleshooting steps to check if the issue is with the company file or the software. To begin, suppress your current QuickBooks installation.
This process allows you to start the program without opening a company file or no QuickBooks window open. Let me walk you through the steps.
If you receive the same error, open a sample file. However, if the issue persists, repairing your QuickBooks helps iron out issues you experience while using the software.
To access the sample file:
To repair:
I’m also attaching articles with detailed information on how to suppress and repair the software:
That should get you on the right track. Keep me posted on how these troubleshooting steps work for you. I’m here to make sure this issue is taken care of.
I tried shutting down QBs, then my computer. I rebooted both and the error message is still coming up (C-47). I'm working on our company books now, and it appears that phone tech support is closed. Is there anything else I can do?
Hi @Tracers,
Thank you for trying out the troubleshooting steps to remove the error you're getting.
As mentioned by my colleague above, the error C-47 appears when QuickBooks can't record the changes on the transaction.
Thus, the only way to resolve this is to close and re-open QuickBooks.
But since this is still ongoing, you can get in touch again with our QuickBooks Desktop Support team. This way, they can investigate this further. Also, they can perform a screen sharing session with you to better help you get your payments posted.
Here's how you can contact them:
You can always let me know if you have any other concerns.
I am experiencing C=47 issue when I try to change a date error on a recently issued check. I cannot even delete the bill payment to reissue without getting this error. I was wondering if the fact that I am running 2 screens a possible issue. I open the program in my laptop then QuickBooks opens in my big screen. I had not previously had this experience. I recently had to change the display screen number so that I could filter reports.
I'm going to try your recommended fix below. Hopefully, it'll be the answer.
Thank you.

Appears to be fixed using partial instructions below. I opened file as instructed but the Windows+E magnified QuickBooks and that was very alerting. However, I managed to exit and continued the program, pulled up the check and was able to change the date with no C=47 error!!
Thank you very much!!
Thanks for posting as solved. How is it possible that I have to read every thread to get to a solution.
I performed all steps to no avail. Then found this thread and repaired the install on the user pc in question. Problem solved. How many time do we need to ask Intuit to post a list of the errors and simplify the process?
We are paying for Enterprise subscriptions and they still want to drive you to a paid service.
