Buy nowHello. Is there a way to delete the modern invoice template from QBO? Each month I upload more than hundred invoices and though the default setting for the invoice template is Standard, QBO uploads invoices to the Modern template, which is the worst template available. Thank you for your help.
I agree that the modern invoices are about the worst thing Intuit has shoved into QB Online recently.
However, this is probably another of QuickBooks Online weaknesses in that you probably can't specify the template to use when importing.
Thank you for reaching out, @Anya-L.
I know how important having the right invoice templates is to you, Anya. However, you're unable to delete the modern invoice template in QuickBooks Online as it is set as the default design and is a fixed part of the system.
If you're interested in this feature being included in the software, I can help you send feedback to our Product Development team. They will take your suggestions into consideration and potentially add them to the system.
Here's how:
You can track your suggestions on the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests page.
Additionally, you may want to consider this article to customize your invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

BigRedConsulting - I guess that's what it is. Such a nuisance this is. Probably a good idea but poorly implemented!
KiazzymaeC, I appreciate you taking time to respond. I sent the feedback numerous times; not sure how many times it would take for the Product Dev-nt team to hear its clients. Each month I have to manually edit each invoice, at least 150 of them. It shouldn't be so!
I cannot believe Intuit would force using their default MODERN template for imports. My only conclusion is there must be a kickback from third-party vendors.
Could be. I'm not sure which focus group was used to come up and create such product with so many obvious errors and inconveniences. The number of complaints about the modern template is growing but there is no response from the Product Development team yet.
Since the 'modern' template is forced on us by default how can we modify it? I import a lot of invoices and the modern layout does not include any of my language on late fees etc. Please don't tell me to open each invoice and select a legacy invoice 100 times.
On an side but related note the Intuit program management team should be following the forum. PM's are accountable for design so please don't ask the people who pay Intuit $100+/mo to fill out request forms. This 'Modern template' update is bad design and leaves a chocolate mess on the floor of Intuit. But lets no blame the the developers they follow the spec. The PM team needs to read what what we are al sharing and act on it. Personally I feel we should be able to individually or batch set what each customer receives as an invoice template.
Hello norstar. I'm very sorry to bring the news to you, but you have to open 100 invoices and change the template. I created a whole new template with all the necessary details, including wording and manually change each invoice from Modern to the new one. I wish someone at QBO/Intuit would read this and offer a proper solution.
I understand that the modern template may not align completely with your specific requirements, @norstar. Your idea to enable batch or customer-level invoice template selection is worth sharing with our development team.
Please consider submitting this feedback. It helps them evaluate user requests and consider adding the feature based on demand.
Here's how you can do it:

Correct that is exactly what I am forced to do. Its a waste of time that's way we automate things with code.
Cheers.
