Now that Price Rules are fixed, how can I make the amount show on invoices?

I understand that the Price Rules feature was unavailable for some time, but has recently (the last month or so) been working just fine. That being said, I find it strange that when I have a Price Rule active, there is no option to have this be displayed on the invoice(s) that it applies to. How can I show the discount amount of a price rule on invoices? Or is this not an option with the new invoice template?

Now that Price Rules are fixed, how can I make the amount show on invoices?

I recognize the importance of applying price rules to your invoices beneficial to your business, CrownCreations. I'll share an alternative way to help you achieve your goal of utilizing price rules.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can create and manage price rules. However, applying them to the invoice in the new layout experience is unavailable. For more details, please refer to this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

As a workaround to display discounts applied through Price Rules on invoices in QBO, you can create a discount service item and enter it as a flat negative amount.

Here's how:

  1. Go to  Sales and select Products and Services.
  2. Click New in the upper-right-hand corner and click Service.
  3. Enter the name of your service item.
  4. Choose the account in the Income account drop-down.
  5. Click Save and close.

Once done, open the invoice and add it to the following line of the transaction in your invoice. You can follow the steps below:

  1. Click + New or open the invoice.
  2. Fill in the necessary details.
  3. Choose the service item you created in the second line of the Product/Service.
  4. In the Amount field, enter the discount in a negative amount.
  5. Tap Save and Close.

Moreover, you can also visit this article on how to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
