QB Desktop 2022 printing multiple copies of checks

I recently upgraded to QB Desktop 2022 from 2019.  No printing issues previously.  Now when I print a check using same HP Laser Printer as before, it prints the first check correctly then continues to print the same check on the other two check forms on the page, resulting in my having to throw away 2 perfectly good checks.  This is happening in all company files.  I have confirmed that I have only 1 check to print and ask it to print one check.  Please help!

QB Desktop 2022 printing multiple copies of checks

You’re in the right direction for help, @mjhennes.

Let’s make sure that you’ll not be wasting more of your checks when printing them on QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

With that being said, we can use the Verify and Rebuild data utilities. Having said that, we can verify and correct the most typical data errors in your company file. Please make sure your QuickBooks Desktop is up to date as well. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Window, then Close All.
  2. From the File menu, click Utilities.
  3. Select Rebuild Data.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to back up your data.
  5. When the tool finishes, select OK.
  6. Go to the File menu, then click Utilities.
  7. Click Verify Data, then select Rebuild Now once QuickBooks finds an issue with your company file.

For detailed steps about this process, please refer to this article: Resolve data damage on your company file

Feel free to post on this page if further assistance is needed. I’ll be around to lend a hand for help. Have a good one!

QB Desktop 2022 printing multiple copies of checks

I followed these steps and QB found no issues with my company file.  This is a newly downloaded version of Desktop Pro 2022 that I put in service just a few weeks ago - it has been printing these duplicate checks ever since I upgraded from Desktop 2019.  Any other thoughts?

I have more steps we can try to help fix the printing issue, @mjhennes

Thanks for following the troubleshooting steps above. Solving printing check issues in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Pro 2022 is my priority. This way, you can save your checks and use them in future transactions.

QuickBooks will rely on your browser's printer settings occasionally. I suggest checking your Printer & Scanner settings to see if you have set the number of copies to several.

Here's how for Windows 10:

  1. Type Printers in the Windows 10 Search bar.
  2. Select Printers & Scanners options.
  3. Right-click the printer icon and choose Printing Preferences.
  4. Review the number of copies.

If you're using Windows 11, I suggest searching the instructions in Google or reaching out with your IT personnel to guide you with the steps.

Once confirmed and the issue persists, I'd recommend running the QuickBooks File Doctor tool. This tool helps fix company file issues.

Do the following:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  3. Install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. Open the app and click QuickBooks File Doctor.

Once the download completes, reboot your computer. Check out this guide for details about the steps: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

If the issue remains, you can proceed in performing the printing troubleshooting steps outlined in this article: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QBDT.

Did you know that you can print checks in bulk? See this link for complete details: Print checks one at a time or in a batch in QBDT.

If you have any other concerns about printing your checks in QBDT, feel free to post again here. I got your back. Take care always.
