We have a corporate name and a different DBA name, when using GoPayment app receipts emailed/texted are showing the corporate name, and we'd like it to show the DBA name instead. The articles about customizing receipts I could find all tell me to go to menus that don't exist for us. I've tried logging in via the app (android & iPad) and https://merchantcenter.intuit.com/ both with my Accountant (Full Admin) login, and with a Full User login.
In GoPayment App there is no Settings. Home/Money In/More
More has Customers, Products & services, Payment options,Hardware, Account, User management & Help
Account has only Business information (selecting it says go to Quickbooks on the web to edit) & Bank account
The other method from the article:
Home tab in online service center does not have a Shortcuts sections.
Sections are Activity & Reports, Account Self-Service, Recurring Payments, Processing Tools, New help quick?
The ONLY mention of Mobile Payments on any screen is Account/Users there is a QuickLinks on the right with Mobile Payment Users that is a link with info about card readers
You can customize what your customers can see on the receipts, @TaxCatSC.

Ok this just got weirder than it should be.
When I received this response I was using my phone, and clicking the links in it I ended up opening the Quickbooks App on my Android Phone (NOT the GoPayment App). In the Quickbooks mobile app I was able to go to Settings - Account - and change Company Information (the legal name was there, I changed it to the DBA name). Then I opened the GoPayment App and ran a test charge, the receipt had the DBA name it, good so far.
But, when I logged into Quickbooks using my laptop...now in Account and Settings, the Company Name and Legal Name were the SAME, the actual legal corporate name had disappeared...and the EIN had also disappeared.
When I attempted to change re-add the EIN, unclick Legal Name is Same as company name, I got an error...which is what happens when changes on Legal Name & EIN are attempted with payroll & payroll tax efile is active. When I had issues with this before I was told by Support that I can't change legal company identification while electronically linked to government tax agencies.
However...the mobile app let me change that information, and DELETED the EIN which seems like its going to be a problem when I file tax forms soon.
I went back to the mobile app, was able to change comany name again...put it back to the corporations name....and now when I log in through the website .qbo.intuit.com, the Company Name & Legal Name have been reversed.
Through this whole process, the account information at https://merchantcenter.intuit.com/ has not changed - Account/Doing Business As (DBA) is the correct DBA...and Principal Name is the corporate officer's name who set up the Payments account.
I don't know why this keeps being so overly complicated, but each different app that can access this account seems to have or change basic (name) information very differently.
Good day, @TaxCatSC.
Thank you for following the steps provided by my colleague above. I'm happy to help with sorting out the issue, with getting your company name and legal name changed correctly.
Changing any information in the GoPayment app will not automatically sync to the QuickBooks account. To correct the information in your two accounts, you'll need to change the information separately.
Since the information of your GoPayment app is already correct, let's go to your QuickBooks account using the website to change the business information.
Here's how:
For additional information, you can check this article on how to update business information: Change your business name, contact info, or EIN in QuickBooks Online.
After that, create a sample receipt to verify if the new DBA name will appear.
However, if the issue persists, you have an option to clear the cache. Deleting your cache and history may clear up some room on your computer. Using a different browser is a good alternative too.
Let me know how it goes. I'm always here to help. Have a great day!
When payroll services & especially efile are engaged attempting to change company information as you indicated always gets an error.
let's go to your QuickBooks account using the website to change the business information.
Here's how:
result is:
" An application error has occurred while processing your request : -70000 " (Windows qbo in Chrome on 3 computers, also Firefox on 2 computers) And sometimes there is an EIN when I log in on a new device, and sometimes there is NOT. Sometimes when I click to edit the name...the name disappears and I'm editing a blank field. Always get the error though.
"Unexpected Error Payroll Service is currently unavailable. Please try again later or contact support." (iPad Quickbooks Accounting app).
Thanks for getting back to us, @TaxCatSC.
The error "An application error has occurred while processing your request: -70000" you're getting when changing company information has been reported as an ongoing issue. A ticket (INV-40008) was created and forwarded to our Product Engineers. They are now working to fix this as soon as possible.
That said, I highly suggest contacting our Phone Support team so they can add you to our notification list. This helps our Engineers determine the number of affected users. You'll receive an email notification once the investigation is done with a resolution. I'll also update you on this post as well.
Here's how to reach them:
Just in case, I'm also adding these articles for future reference:
