Desktop Enterprise card reader options

I spoke with sales and they could only suggest a credit card reader that has to be used with the mobile app but we don't want that on an employee's phone. Are there any card readers that integrate with QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop? Even off brand options? Most of what I can find is for the app or QB online. We have really low volume of swiped cards, but would like to add the option for the occasional walk-in customers. (we're a industrial tooling distributor/wholesale, not retail)

Desktop Enterprise card reader options

Hi there, daraatdykehouse.

Let me share some information about QuickBooks card readers and the programs they work best with.

We have a dedicated card reader for QuickBooks Desktop. It is called QuickBooks Chip and Magstripe Card Reader. This reader accepts EMV chip cards, as well as debit and credit cards with magstripe.

To charge and connect it to your QuickBooks Desktop, you'll have to use a micro-USB cable, which is included once you purchase the device. To learn more about how the reader works, I'd recommend contacting our Sales Team. I've also attached an article about supported payment card readers: QuickBooks Payments card reader features and compatibility.

Although, you can use other brands in taking customer payments. You may search and read some reviews online to ensure that you'll get the functionalities you need for your business.

For more tips in handling your sales and customer transactions in the program, feel free to check some topics from our Help Article page.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment below if there's anything else you need. I'll be around to help.

When I spoke with sales earlier today and chatted later with them they didn't give me this option. How can I buy it if they don't show it? Do you have a link? I tried googling it as well. I only see the attached options when logged into merchant service center.

@daraatdykehouse

As another option, you may consider to have a 3rd party merchant service to integrate with your QB Desktop. They offer the following options:

VeriFone PAYWare Mobile for iPhone

Verifone Vx 520 Dual-Com EMV/NFC

Nurit 8020 Wireless Terminal for high volume transactions

VeriFone PIN Pad 1000SE for debit cards

Thank you for the options but I'm hoping to not have to use an employee's phone, not high volume (maybe 2 a month) and need credit not just debit.

It seems that the Verifone Vx 520 Dual-Com EMV/NFC is ideal for your needs.

It's discontinued and not PCI compliant. Thank you though.

We still have a problem.

Quickbooks was not able to help at all, they sent a link with 3 options but no idea where to get it.

The person who answered the call at QB was not knowledgeable at all.

It took her 10 minutes to find the article (link) to send, which was not helpful at all.

Back to square one.

Hi.  We're a retail pipe, valves, and fittings store.  We've been using the MagTek 21040145 card reader for years.  It plugs into a USB port and we use Intuit's merchant service so it's all processed within Quickbooks. It doesn't have a chip reader but that doesn't cause an issue at this point.
