When I enter a new vendor and the vendor is a company, QB will not allow me to enter the company unless it has a Dun & Bradstreet number. How do I override that and enter the company?
where are you seeing the D&B number requirement?
What county version are you using?
When I start typing in the Company section for a new vendor, it says powered by Dun & Bradstreet. I cannot enter any company which is not in their list.
ahhh I see I just tried it, if you keep typing the name, when it fails to match the suggestions, that D&B thing falls off
Not on my end.
Its not falling off on my end.
Hi @bkc,
I tried duplicating the issue and found that you might have to click outside the Vendor Name field to continue. Let us know if you still need help with this.
Thanks,
Amy
Hey there, @bkc.
Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Community. Allow me to step in for a moment and share some information about how you can get rid of the Dun & Bradstreet drop-down when entering new vendor in Quickbooks Online (QBO).
When you enter a new vendor in QBO, the Powered by data from Dun & Bradstreet drop-down will appear with the names that match what you're typing. To remove this, you can just click anywhere on the screen. Then you're now free to continue entering all the necessary information
Just in case you need it, you may visit this article for more information about vendors in general: Vendors overview.
I hope that this post leaves you with a smile. Please let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I'd be glad to answer should you have additional questions. Take care and enjoy the rest of the day.
Is there a way to turn this feature on or off? My QB online is no longer making D&B suggestions and I would like it to.
Is there a way to turn this feature off completely? It's never the data I need and is just an unnecessary frustration when entering client or vendor data.
Hello there, mjprete.
I appreciate you taking the time getting back to us. Let's get this straightened out.
There isn't a way we can totally turn off this feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO). As mentioned by my colleague FritzF, the Dun & Bradstreet number will appear once you enter Company information because QuickBooks automatically detects names that matches what enter.
For now, the following workarounds shared above can help you get rid of it. This is a good product suggestion and we'll be sure to keep this in mind for future enhancements.
Should you have any other questions or clarifications about this, don't hesitate to let me know. I'd be glad to help.
