How to connect Apple Card?

Hello, 

 

Is there a way to connect Apple Card to QuickBooks? If not, when can we expect one? I've searched the QB forums and haven't found a viable solution; I've only seen requests and advice on how to import. However, unless I've missed the option, I haven't been able to find a way to connect Apple Card, and the import option doesn't seem to be possible without being able to associate it with that account, i.e., Apple Card transactions to Apple Card.

You're correct that requesting a connection to our engineers and importing a CSV is the closest workaround, @WhtSqrl20xx. I'll share the steps to import your Apple Card transactions even if it's not connected to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). 

 

The option to connect the Apple Card account to QBSE is currently unavailable. And we don't have a specific time frame for when this will be available in the system. But no worries, I have a workaround to help you add the data to your account. 

 

First, please manually upload your Apple card data through a CSV file. We can start by going to Apple's website and signing in. From there, we can follow the steps on the screen to download it. You can reach their support if you need further guidance with this. 

 

Once done, you can follow the steps below:

 

  1. On the Transactions page, click the arrow icon beside Connect account.
  2. Choose Import transactions.
  3. Click the Import transactions hyperlink in the bottom part.
  4. Browse for the CSV file you've downloaded from Apple Card. 
  5. Hit Continue and follow the on-screen instructions.

After importing them, you can start categorizing your transactions to ensure there are no duplicates.

I'm glad to offer my assistance with connecting your Apple card. Currently, the connection between QuickBooks Self-Employed and Apple card is unavailable. However, you can import your transactions using a CSV file.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Press the Gear icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Choose Imports.
  3. Select the import transactions link in the middle of the screen.
  4. Browse the CSV file on your computer.
  5. Click Import.

Aside from that, ensure we properly categorize the transactions so it'll post to the correct categories.

Exactly the same frustration here!  I must check in here monthly to see if there is any integration, or solution to this issue.  If I can link Apple Card via Intuit Mint there is no reason it is not available in QBSE.  The workaround is time consuming and clunky, especially considering the extra time involved to change the debits to credits and visa versa due to how Apple Card transactions are listed.  I solely use Apple Card for business expenses and this is pretty ridiculous and unacceptable.

Much Needed Update!!

I find it comical that no one has yet to even mention the fact that these steps are incomplete and do not even reflect how the online site works.

First of all, you cannot just import from any bank or .csv file. You have to import the Apple Card transactions (or any other non supported bank) into an existing connected bank account. Which is just plain irresponsible for any accounting software to require. If you do choose to import the files into say the general Cash account, all of the transactions will show incorrectly as it will think credit card transactions are deposits and vice versa since generally credit card companies do not minus a purchase and plus a payment made.

Secondly, the request has been made for years now for this integration, why has this still not happened? It was super easy and possible to do with Intuit Mint but of course you decided that having such a great budgeting software that was free was just not worth supporting any more and are now closing that system down. (BTW, Credit Karma doesn't have half the capabilities that Mint did so i'm not sure why you keep pushing to use that in its place). 

Can we please get some UPDATED procedures on how to import these transactions without all the headache? The step I'm specifically referring to is "3. Click the Import transactions hyperlink in the bottom part." <--That little message and hyperlink at the bottom no longer exists.

Since you mentioned that the Import transaction hyperlink doesn't exist on your end, I recommend performing some troubleshooting steps to see if the issue is within your browser. Please know that cache-induced browsers affect the program's performance and might affect the features you see on your screen. First, you can start by accessing your account in an incognito or private browser. You can refer to these shortcut keys below:

 

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

 

You can follow the steps to import the transactions and check if you see the hyperlink. If it works, you can clear your browser's cache to eliminate unnecessary cache to fix your browser. Just a heads up, the clearing cache hyperlink that I've shared is a QuickBooks Online article. However, you can still use it for your program.

The Hyperlink is not available at the bottom of the screen anymore. I see the previous writer also stated this and you told him to clear his cache or browse privately and I tried both and it made no difference. I can only add earlier transactions as cash, already linked accounts or a link to add Amazon orders. Please help.

We recommend contacting our Customer Care team to investigate why you're unable to access the Import transactions hyperlink in the Import transactions page in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) and get this fixed in no time. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Help (?) and select Contact Us. If you’re using the QBSE app, tap the + button and select Ask QB Assistant.
  2. Enter “talk to a human”, then select Continue.
  3. Select which way you want to connect: Have us call you - Get a call from a support expert or Chat with us - Start a conversation with a support expert.

 

Once you've imported your transactions, categorize them to ensure they are placed on the correct line of your Schedule C.

This is crazy. We're in 2024 and QuickBooks still hasn't added Apple Card. As a business owner, I don't have time to be exporting/importing CSV files. That's what we pay Intuit for - seamless integration with financial institutions. Fix this.

What's the solution for every transaction appearing as a credit rather than what it actually is, a debit? Do I have to import the CSV as "cash?" Why can't I just create a virtual account and name it "Apple Card" so I can at least keep it organized while I manually do the tasks that I pay QBSE to do?

The transactions are classified as credit or debit depending on your CSV format. Since the entry appears as a credit instead of a debit, the best solution to fix it is to reimport the entries and make sure to properly order them in your CSV. Before doing so, exclude the imported data first to avoid duplicate ones.

On the other hand, importing your data as Cash is determined by the type of your entries and the description associated with them. If the transaction is intended for cash, select that option in the CSV; otherwise, enter expenses as needed.
