Is there any way to link an American Express Business Checking Account? It does not show up in any of the current AMEX options when linking an account.

I have AMEX business checking (https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/business/checking/). If I use any of the existing AMEX options when linking an account, it only shows my credit cards and not the checking accounts.

Thanks for visiting the Community, @trialbydata-prot. I'll help you connect your  American Express Business checking account to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

One of QBO's features is Online Banking. QuickBooks retrieves and categorizes your bank and credit card transactions for you if you connect an account. All you have to do now is give your approval for the work.

To connect your American Express Business account, these are the steps:

  1. On the left navigational bar, go to Banking menu or Transactions menu.
  2. If this is your first time connecting the account, select Connect  on the landing page. Or if you've already connected banking accounts in the past, select Add Accounts.
  3. Search for and select American Express Business Credit Card. Then select Continue.
  4. In the Pop-up window, sign in with your American Express user ID and password. You'll see onscreen instructions if American Express requires additional security steps.
  5. Select the accounts you want to connect to QuickBooks.
  6. For each account, select the account type from the dropdown.
  7. Select the date range for the download and then click Connect.

Once done, QuickBooks will automatically download the transactions so you don't have to enter them manually. You'll see them in the Banking menu or Transactions menu.

This response is irrelevant to my question. I am looking to add American Express Business Checking. I have tried 4 different AMEX listings in the Add Accounts list and none of them bring up my checking account, only credit cards.

I understand how hard it might be when you can't see the AMEX Business Checking on the list, @trialbydata-prot

I'm here to share some insights about connecting/syncing two American Express (Amex) accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In the meantime, only the American Express financial institution is supported under Open Banking regulations. If you can't find the AMEX Business Checking on the list, we can always manually import your bank transactions.

Feel free to visit our Banking page for more insights about managing your bank feeds and reconciling accounts.

After connecting your accounts, you're ready to add and match the downloaded transactions.

Explore MT Online as a workaround. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed.
