Quickbooks Cash checking account doesn't work with Paypal? Deal breaker for me.

I have a new Quickbooks Cash checking account. My customers pay me with Paypal. I went into Paypal and tried to add this, using the bank names (Green Dot, Go Bank, etc) and finally the routing number and account number. Paypal said "Sorry, we can’t link your bank account right now." support isn't helping on the chat. Does this not work? I need to know, if it doesn't, it's a deal breaker for me.

Hello there, @userbill.

Connect bank and credit card (including PayPal) accounts you use for your business. Let’s set-up the account you already linked for online banking for a second time around for QuickBooks Cash.

I'd be glad to walk you through the steps on how to connect the bank:

  1. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu.
  2. Select Connect Account on the landing page, or select Add account or Link account if you've already created an account.
  3. Search for your bank. You can connect most banks, even small credit unions.
  4. Choose Continue. Then enter the username and password you use for your bank's website in the pop-up window. It may take a few minutes to connect.
  5. You'll see onscreen instructions if your bank requires additional security steps.
  6. Select the accounts you want to connect (savings, checking, or credit card) to QuickBooks. For each account, select the account type from the dropdown.
  7. Select Connect.

Once done, you can transfer money to and from your QuickBooks Cash account. You may check this article for a reference: Use

your QuickBooks Cash account

Let me also add some of the resources that you can read for additional reference:

Thank you for your patience while we're working on this. Please know that you can always get back to this post if you have any other questions.

Quickbooks Cash checking account doesn't work with Paypal? Deal breaker for me.

Thank you. I have connected Paypal to Quickbooks Online as you described. It seems though ("Connect a PayPal account to start accepting payments on Intuit") that it's just for when I invoice clients, to give them that option.

This isn't my scenario. My customers pay on my website using WooCommerce, choosing the PayPal option (please don't recommend hiring a developer to do QB's API integration, you need a better solution as WooCommerce has for that). When the money appears in my paypal, I want to be able to transfer it to my new Quickbooks Cash checking account. I usually log into paypal to do that now, have them send the money to my current (old) checking account.

Can I do that transfer now from QBO, since I couldn't log into Paypal and connect my new Quickbooks Cash checking account? It still bothers me a bit that the latter approach didn't work, is it not a real checking account? Why wouldn't PP recognize it?

I’ll help you transfer these funds to your new QuickBooks Cash account, @Remo9999999999.

I know you’ve spent a lot of time moving these deposits. Allow me to provide some steps to get this resolved.

First, you’ll want to contact your bank to verify the routing number. Once done, try to connect it again to QuickBooks. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Cash Flow menu.
  2. In the QuickBooks Cash section, select Transfer money.
  3. Select Transfer in, then follow the onscreen instructions.
  4. Enter the bank's name and select a type in the Account Type field.
  5. Press Next.
  6. Enter the Account number and Routing number in the fields.
  7. Click Next.
  8. When you're ready to connect, select Sounds good.

QuickBooks will send two small deposits to the account within the next 3 days. Then you’ll need to verify the transactions after getting the confirmation email. Please check out this reference for more information about transferring funds to a QuickBooks Cash account.

If everything is settled, QuickBooks will automatically categorize transactions and allows you to review cash events in the program. You can visit this article on how to add and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks for reference.

Don't hesitate to visit me here with an update on your transferring deposits situation. I'm determined to help you find a solution.

MadelynC - these cookie-cutter steps do not work. There is something "different" about this Quickbooks Cash chedcking account that does not allow it to work with Paypal, doesn't permit paper checks to be created, etc. Based on the routing number, this "checking account" looks to these 3rd parties like some kind of gift card or something.

With so many problems, I think it's a huge mistake for any business owner to use this Quickbooks Cash checking account. It's just not viable or ready for prime time and I'm surprised Intuit rolled it out. I guess I'll be transferring my money back to my old account, thankfully I never closed it while I was evaluating this broken offering.

Remo, did you find a solution to this problem?...I just went through this and figured it out. It’s on Shopify’s side that this needs to be addressed.

Bill, did you ever find a solution to this?...I'm in the same boat and on the verge of closing this "QuickBooks Cash Account". I opened the account because it seemed like one less step I'd have to deal with.

This is the biggest scam I have ever witnessed. They Hijack your money and make it impossible to withdraw funds or transfer to a new account. Green Dot has the worst reviews...not one above a 1. SCAM SCAM

Quick books just washes their hand of it. Need to find a new bookkeeping program...what a farce. Starting litigation suit for fraud...
