Adding Quickbooks Online Plus to QB Time subscription

I'm trying to add QB online Plus to an account I have QB Time with. It says You can't add QuickBooks Online Plus to Company Name with your existing subscription. Try another company or contact customer support for help.

I'm setting up QB online plus since I'm transition from QB desktop to QB online with a new accounting firm. My current email address and account is only connected to QB time, not QB desktop as that was managed by my previous, retiring accountant.

Please explain to me why I can't add my company that I use QB time with, to my QB plus subscription.

Adding Quickbooks Online Plus to QB Time subscription

I understand the convenience of integrating our QuickBooks Time to QuickBooks Online (QBO), BullMoose. Let's work together to identify why you've encountered this problem.

The error message "You can't add QuickBooks Online Plus to Company Name with your existing subscription. Try another company or contact customer support for help" may be caused by these two reasons:

  • Your QB Time account is still associated with your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account.
  • Your QBO account is connected with your QBO Payroll subscription. Please note that we cannot sync our QB Time account to QBO if it's integrated with QBO Payroll Core subscriptions.

If it's connected, we can:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop, hit Edit, then Preferences, and choose Integrated Applications.
  2. Select Company Preferences, then QuickBooks Time, and click Remove, then OK

However, if it's not, we can perform some basic troubleshooting steps to determine if it's a browser-related issue. We can use an incognito browser when completing this action. Doing so prevents the browser history from being saved.

Please refer to the following keyboard shortcuts based on your browser type:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If the private browsing session works, clear the browser's cache so the system can restart. This task is also possible in other supported, up-to-date browsers. Clearing the cache will reboot the system, allowing you to work with a clean slate.
