Open invoices but customers showing a balance of $0

I have two clients in QuickBooks that show open invoices but when I check on them in the customer center it shows that their balance is $0.

I am not sure where I've gone wrong as it only appears to be these two.

Any ideas what I should be looking at?

If you have a payment not assigned to an invoice you should see the credit from receive payments.

How far back do I have to go in the receive payments to apply credits?

the detail view on AR Aging summary should provide you the payments which was not applied to an invoice

look at first and forth customer they have zero balance hence there are payments and invoice which does not linked together.

solution
Click the zero amount on total this should pull up detail information. You can either find payments or journal entry which was not applied to an invoice.
Option 1
1. Open unpaid invoice by double click
2. At the bottom part of the invoice you can click apply credits

Option 2
1. Open the payments receive
2. Apply the payments to an open invoice

If this is not the case hence their is a journal entry to increase the balance for AR hence follow option 2 above

hope this help

NOte: I dont have QB platform I am just very much familiar with Qb Desktop for PC as I am SME for support for QB before, now i am support bigger platform

Option 1: I don't have anywhere where I can apply credits. http://i.imgur.com/lvuw78E.jpg

Option 2: I've done that as many times as I can, I appear to now be stuck at this point where no matter how many times I go back in I choose to apply credits and the same thing keeps happening over and over. It keeps applying the $75 bring the total to apply up to $225. Every time. http://i.imgur.com/j69NIzU.jpg

I have no idea what you mean when you say "If this is not the case hence their is a journal entry to increase the balance for AR hence follow option 2 above"

Thanks!

It appears that on option 2, I needed to click on "auto apply" for the credits to finally apply.

There's no option on each invoice to apply a credit: http://i.imgur.com/lvuw78E.jpg

Answer:

It is showing zero because there was unapplied payment to an invoice

This is best attested when you view your customer center and your aging summary report.
Customer still show in aging summary even though its is zero

To resolve
Open AP Aging Summary
Click the Zero Amount and it should provide you the detail information, notice that the Payments or credit was not applied to the invoice

Apply the payment it should take care of it.

Mark resolve for other user.

When I click on the total (under AP Aging Summary) I get a new window titled "A/P Aging QuickZoom" that doesn't show anything.

I generated a quick report for one client and only three invoices show up (I've created many more than those three for this client) for three different amounts on three different dates. http://i.imgur.com/csjrKNU.jpg

Hi base from the information you posted sad to say that no other record can be found. I bet you encountered what I call common user problem
Please answer the following information
Do you normally create back and restore file?
Do you copy your file or do you normally save your data file to portable devices?

Common problem with using quickbooks in multiple devices or pc/laptop is saving it to the permanent location. File should be permanently save on the same location it could be that you recently restore a copy

If this is really not the case, lets review your Financial. Take note of the common Item you use to invoice you created from that customer.
That item usually designated to an income account hence if you drill down the income account i bet you only pull out 3 transaction.

If this is true you have a bigger problem as your financial maybe incorrect.

Have you tried searching for Qbw file? I am not sure if QB MAC has the same extension name
for PC
Working file = .qbw
Back up file = Qbb

I do have a backup file, yes. I only update this file from a single computer. I have been diligent about logging all payments correctly.

Thanks!

As a customer, I don't want to be reminded of my balance as well. Let's take it out from your invoice, AD15.

If you’re using QuickBooks Desktop, you can edit your invoice template. Then, deselect the footer called Customer Total Balance. We’ll pull that up through the Invoice page to be sure we’re editing the template you used.

 1. Open the invoice and click the Formatting tab just below the menu.
 2. Click on Customize Data Layout.
 3. Select the Footer tab.
 4. Remove the check mark in the Customer Total Balance checkbox.
 5. Click Pint Preview (optional) or click OK.

If you're using QuickBooks Online, you'll want to remove the option called Account Summary on your template.

 1. Open the invoice and click Customize at the bottom.
 2. Select Edit current.
 3. Choose the Content bar and click the Table section (center part) of the previewed invoice on the right.
 4. Un-tick the Show on invoice checkbox in the Account Summary section.
 5. Click Preview PDF (optional) or click Done.
