Access your QuickBooks Online account using a private browser. Use the short cut keys below:
If it's works go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete stored site data and improve the system performance. Also, you can use other supported browsers.

This obviously did not work. I need to pay people and the system is down. Very difficult to talk to humans at QB. Waste of my time. You pay for something it should work!

I appreciate following the resolution shared by my peer and its result. I can see that the Online Bill Pay option is a helpful tool for you and time is also important when running a business.
In addition to @Fiat Lux - ASIA answer, the error you receive when paying bills is already reported to our engineers. They’re working on getting this feature up and running again.
While we're unable to provide any workaround, I recommend contacting our QBO Care Team. One of our agents will gather personal data to add the company to the list of affected users. You’ll receive an email once there’s an update about the investigation.

I have encountered this message for two weeks straight, now, in 2022! Melio is gone, Bill.com is the current contracted provider. QB did nothing for me in finding/correcting the problem, except they provided Bill.com's phone number, so now I get to solve a QB problem independently with the billpay provider directly! I'm definitely beginning to think QB is WAY overpriced - I spend more time managing its quirky error-prone system than my own bookkeeping. Screwy system!
Open a separate Melio account for free and integrate it to your QBO account to isolate the issue.

I am in the same boat, got hired in January and still can not access pay bills online. QB closed my case a few weeks ago, saying the problem was solved but it is not. Did they ever resolve this for you?
