I've checked our records and haven't seen any cases the same as yours, Dapurplepeter. Let me help you fix it.

Let's try to update the QuickBooks Self-Employed app. This way, all updates, and critical fixes will be downloaded. Here's how:

  1. Open Google Play Store or App Store.
  2. Look for QuickBooks Self-Employed, then click Update

Once done, try to snap a photo of a receipt to check if it looks good already.

If it didn't make any difference, try to uninstall and reinstall the app to refresh the program.

Feel free to get in touch with us if you need more of our help. We're just one comment away. Take care!

I've tried both of your suggestions. Still have blurry pics only while using the qb app. If I take a normal pic with my camera. The pics are fine. So I'm assuming that it's some sort of bug in the quickbooks app

Hi Dapurplepeter,

Thank you for making sure your camera is working fine. I saw the other thread where you also commented about this behavior. Therefore, you're not the only one experiencing it. We will help you resolve this.

While there isn't an open ticket for this at the moment, I suggest contacting our Support team. That way, they can use more tools to get more details to investigate this further. This may only happen on certain devices though.

In the meantime, you can take pictures of your receipts without using the app, and forward them to QBSE. This is an alternate feature called Receipt forwarding, where your sent receipts will be scanned by the system and the extracted data will be loaded to your Transactions section for your review. Generally, this works the same way with Receipt Capturing. They only differ on the method of taking pictures.

We can assure you that we will check everything we can to resolve any issues you have. In this way, you can maximize the product and turn your focus into your business. Just let us know if you have concerns.
