It's a pleasure to have you here today, Teresa. We'll share details about how subtotal works inside the invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When creating an invoice, you can add a subtotal on each item inside the transaction. However, the subtotal will only show in the Amount column, and the option to have it in the Quantity column is unavailable. We'll write down the steps to get you going:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, click the +New button.
  3. Select Invoice.
  4. Add all the needed information.
  5. In the Product or service section, add the items.
  6. Click the Dropdown arrow button beside the Add product or service and then click Add subtotal.
  7. Once done, select the Save or Review and send.

Moreover, we recommend checking this article to help you manage customer payments inside the program: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.
