You can add the customer type by going to the Customer information window.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Tap on Customers from Sales at the left pane.
  2. Click on the customer's name from the result.
  3. Hit on Edit beside New transaction.
  4. Go to the Additional info column from the Customer information page.
  5. Select a customer type form the Customer Type section.
  6. Then click on the Save button to record the details.

If you aren't able to add a customer type from there, try replicating the steps in a private window. Sometimes, the stored cache of the regular browser you're using may cause this unusual behavior.

 

To save you time, use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

 

  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift +N

If you're able to add the type successfully, go back to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh. Also, using other supported browsers can help us narrow the cause of this behavior.

I also would like to take advantage of this customer "additional info" tab. My version does not include this tab. How do I get it? My tabs are as listed:

Address

Notes

Tax Info

Payments & Billing

Language

Attachments

The Additional info tab is only available in QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced version. It allows you to assign a type to your customer.

If you're using one and you're unable to view the Additional Info tab, let's perform a few steps to isolate and resolve this concern.

  1. Try your browser's private window since it disables browsing history and cache.
    • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
    • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
    • Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P
    • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  2. If that works, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache.
  3. Also, you can try a different browser, if available.
