Does anyone else hate the new look on the invoices??

Not only the look, the new "upgrade" eliminated several features I use. Why do we not get the description of products in the drop down menu when invoicing anymore?  Adding lines to invoices is a pain in the a$$. Every line has to be added manually now at the end. So if I have to add labor, I have to drag the new line where I want it. PDF's being send look different to my customers and shows them info I do not want them to see. The "suggested transactions" pop up is horrible, 2 clicks to close every time!!! We are currently looking for another  software program as Intuit had done NOTHING to correct the darn mess they made. Customer Support can not even help. Poor planning, poor execution, very poor response and/or action to correct! I am sick of turning on my QB and finding something else I use screwed up!

How funny, I've send "feedback" every day since the "upgrade" happened. Apparently, Intuit doesn't read them or doesn't care.

YES!!! I cannot stand this, I finally got my webpage invoice setup the way I want it. But no matter what I do, my mobile APP is different, looks horrible and I cannot screen shot + text the invoice to a customer without having to crop the image before sending. Its awful and I wish they would stop changing things over and over without telling anyone. Now I have to spend my entire Saturday afternoon making the invoice on the web, sending it through email to my cell phone, cropping and sending that to the customer and apologizing to them. It makes me and my company look unprofessional.

If QuickBooks keeps doing these random updates, I'm goin to be lookin for a different book keeping service.

QBs grossly fails to understand that their entire product line is irrelevant if you (we) do not make the sale. Our early interactions with our customers are frequently via a quote. Requiring excessive time to provide that quote, or  providing an unprofessional looking quote, hampers our ability to make the sale. Thus rendering all of QBs other features useless. If QBs understood business 101 they would be putting every effort to fix the quote and invoice system. But judging from their lack of customer service, I think it is fair to claim they do not understand business. Time to start looking...

RE: Requiring excessive time to provide that quote, or  providing an unprofessional looking quote, hampers our ability to make the sale.

Are you saying your potential customers are not impressed by a cartoonish quote that looks like it was designed for children?

But I bet it looks great on a phone! And that's what's important, right?

Seriously though, it helps to remember that QuickBooks Online is of late basically designed by children who have never run a business and clearly have no idea what efficient data entry look like, how to build easy to use features, what business forms look like, or what is important to small businesses. Their recent updates make this clear.

Once you understand that, and lower your expectations way, way down, then you'll be happy with QuickBooks Online.

wow, thanks for the suggestion! Wave looks incredible so far, exactly what we were looking for. We will be doing a trial within the week!

The quicker we can get out of QBO, the better.

@LER1 Wave looks pretty good for our business. We were hoping to find something that supports a credit card reader function, but Wave does not. However neither does QBO so it's not like we're going to be losing that feature. The only other issue with Wave we discovered was limited invoice due date terms. There are basic terms like Net 30, however we have some customers with custom terms like 2% 10 Net 45. This is a request we can inquire about, though. Wave obviously seems better at implementing features than QBO.

@LER1 We recently discovered Zoho Books which so far is working amazing for all accounting needs and less expensive. Let us know if you've found something similar!

HATE HATE HATE this new invoice.  I don't have the option to choose the old layout.  WHY?????

Does anyone else hate the new look on the invoices??

I know transitioning to a new invoice layout in QuickBooks Online can be challenging, @atlbarnett. It's important to feel comfortable and confident when using such tools. I'm here to share some information about this matter.

In QuickBooks Online's new invoice rollout, switching to the old layout is currently unavailable for Simple Start and Essential users. However, if you have the Plus and Advanced subscriptions, users can opt-in and go back to the old layout until they are migrated to the new invoice layout experience.

Since you mentioned that there's no option to switch back, this could be because of your subscription version. With this, I recommend sending feedback to our Product Development team to express your preference for the old layout in your QBO version. Your input is valuable and can contribute to improving the platform for all users. Here's the step to send one:

  1. Select the Gear icon, then choose Feedback.
  2. Type in your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Select Next to submit.

Additionally, you may refer to this article for more details about the new invoice rollout: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Also, you have the flexibility to customize the appearance of your invoices, which might help in achieving a layout that aligns with your preferences.

We want to ensure that your experience with QuickBooks Online is as smooth as possible. If you have any additional concerns or questions about the new invoice experience, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to support you.

I click on "update layout"- it switches to a new form stye then reverts back to the original stye.  I did create a custom Estimate form that doesn't appear in either view.  Very disappointed with customization.

Welcome to the Community space, @Housermp.

I am here to provide some insights about the sudden reverting of your estimate in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

It is possible that the estimate layout reverts to the old layout after switching to the new one because you may have previously opted out of the updated layout. This behavior is not an error since it is working as designed. Therefore, there is no need to fix anything.

Thus, I recommend sending feedback to our Product Engineers. This will help them better understand how to improve existing features and create new ones to better serve our customers.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon, then choose Feedback.
  2. Type in your product suggestions.
  3. Select Next to submit.

In regards to your customized template for an estimate, since you can't find the customized template of your estimate, let's troubleshoot to fix this.

Sometimes, your browser may encounter data issues, thus causing some unusual responses. To verify, log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser. To do so, press this shortcut key on your keyboard:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If this works, you need to clear the browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If the issue persists in a private browser, consider using a different supported browser.

Moreover, I'm adding this helpful article as your reference in converting your estimates to an invoice in QBO: Convert an estimate into an invoice in QuickBooks Online.

Return to this post if you have other concerns about the new layout and the custom form styles of your sales form. The Community is always here to help.

I submit a "suggestion" ever frickin day about the "changes". Nothing has been done to FIX any of the mess that was made with the last update, not ONE thing has been fixed!

To initiate a change (by those at fault) would be an admittance that what they did was wrong or misguided. Maybe pride is in the way. Or maybe they actually believe they know more about their customers' needs than their customers know. Either excuse is inexcusable.

YES! I do hate all of the changes and I also submit constant requests / complaints.  I wish they would just leave everything alone.  I used QBO for at least 10 years and have introduced many clients to them.  You would think they would consider feedback from someone who has been such a great customer.

Yes, that would mean losing face. Can't have that!

RE: Or maybe they actually believe they know more about their customers' needs than their customers know.

Well, clearly they think you don't need functional invoices like QuickBooks Desktop has. That'd be way too much for you to handle. And probably wouldn't work well on a phone. 'Cause, you know, that's important.

RE: Either excuse is inexcusable.

Yea, but they're simple and work well on your phone!  You know, because using a phone to do your accounting is the wave of the future. Soon everyone will be doing it!

No, they'll never do that!  In Intuit's own words, this is what's so great about QuickBooks Online, about hosting the application on a server: They can change it all the time with little effort - or forethought, or research to see if their changes are actually good.  Super-bonus!

I absolutely loathe not just the new invoice but that it has been rammed down my throat without an option to choose the layout I prefer. The look is terrible in that the font is too small and yet the lines take up more space than the old invoice and many times bleed over onto a second page. Extra pages mean using more PC storage when saving. It means using more of my customer’s paper and ink when faxed and more of their electronic storage when they save them. The former invoice design had clear concise dividers and was much easier on the eyes. That you can only enter a couple of line items and then have an extra step to keep adding now is ridiculous. That every invoice for my COD customers now says it’s late at the bottom is not appreciated. So, I am having to save each invoice that customers require me to fax and manually edit them down to a single page and remove the overdue notification. I immediately notified QB that I do not want the new layout, I have notified them again every time, a questionnaire for feedback pops up, and let them know every time I have to talk to them about something else on the phone. Every CS rep I have spoken with claims they understand and receive many complaints. I have been given instruction and see instruction listed in this conversation about how to switch back to the old layout. While, it appears to be an option, it should not even be there because it is non-functional. I am disgruntled enough that I have been shopping other accounting management options.

Is it possible than even one QB staff member could respond with a truthful, helpful solution, rather than the repeated rhetoric that is obviously devised to simply put customers off and wear them down!? Bring the old forms that we liked, that our customers liked, back and make them actually selectable options. You have and are receiving constant complaints, QB phone reps admit this and admit they know the changes are not appreciated, and yet still NOTHING is done to accommodate paying customers! You are wearing us down, alright. Down and out the door, never to return!

@JulzGaye  RE: Is it possible than even one QB staff member could respond with a truthful, helpful solution, rather than the repeated rhetoric that is obviously devised to simply put customers off and wear them down!?

I don't think that's possible.  I think that, after blaming the browser for whatever is wrong, then they're told to cheerfully say they care and to please submit a suggestion.  Or that Intuit has an open case (that might even apply to your problem, maybe) and that you should "rest assured" that they're working on it day and night and they'll have a solution out ASAP (meaning within five years or so).

Yes, all of us know the new sales forms suck, but to admit they screwed up, which in turn means they'd lose face, is nearly unimaginable to them. Instead, they're probably either trying to convince themselves that all is just fine or they're working on some mild improvements to include some of the lost features, at which point they'll pat each other on the back and declare the issue solved.

Do you ever read Dilbert?  I'm pretty sure it's a comic about Intuit.

I definitely hate the new invoice setup. I am a ProAdvisor and my clients are calling or emailing me daily asking me what to do. For my fairly newer clients, I had already customized invoices for them and then bam! this change occurred. I can’t even charge them for attempting to fix this because I had convinced them to convert to QBO and none of this is their fault. Why QBO makes these changes that make things much worse is beyond my understanding. They should never make changes that affect every user overall. It should be a choice. I am going to start researching other financial software options and convert my clients to something else. Does anyone know of other options?
