Eliminate Quickbooks Capital ad on Customer Payment screen

Holy crap. Why do the users need to contact someone? If you read the thread, you can see that someone / many people are aware that this is a problem and can not be eliminated by the user. If this issue has already been closed as an issue by your engineering staff, what was their solution?

That's very ugly.  Yes, making the form taller than it was will of course hide the buttons on low resolution monitors, which is what seems to be happening.  In my case when I reduced the resolution to 1280 x 720 then I could no longer see the buttons.  But I do note that when using the minimum required resolution, 1280 x 1024 I can see the buttons.

Does anyone have an issue seeing the buttons when their resolution is 1280 x 1024 or higher?

Hello there, @BigRedConsulting.

Using different resolution still allows you to see buttons. However, it depends on the recommended screen resolution of your monitor. And I'd like to discuss this in detail and help you from there.

When you reduce the resolution lower than the recommended one, the resolution of your monitor screen will compress. If you're not seeing buttons while creating a transaction, you can double-click the transaction window to make the buttons visible.

However, if your monitor has high-resolution, you may have to change your default settings in QuickBooks. Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Windows Start menu.
  3. Type QuickBooks, then right-click the QuickBooks icon and select Open file location.
  4. Right-click the QuickBooks.exe file in the folder, then select Properties.
  5. Go to the Compatibility tab.
  6. Select the Disable display scaling on high DPI settings check box.
  7. Select Apply, then OK.

I've got you an article for more details: Fix Screen Issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Eliminate Quickbooks Capital ad on Customer Payment screen

I have the exact same thing happening on my receive payment window. Not a pop up, can't be closed. I can't believe how much we pay per year as it is, and then to try and market something else that I can't get rid of is garbage. And then to suggest I contact customer service about it, I'm running a business and I don't have 6 hours to wait to talk to someone.

I already had pop-ups disabled and I still have the issue of this Quickbooks capital ad. Please fix asap! This seems to be a problem that came with the very recent latest update.

Didn't pay for the desktop version and payroll services to to see ads.

Remove this. Now.

Agree!  To say that we have to change the screen resolution, which is what we have individually set for our needs (I currently have a visual impairment - the larger screen resolution is necessary), is a band-aid. Take the ad off. I don't want the product. We pay enough as it is. I don't have time or patience to deal with a rep to try to "fix" it. The fix is to GET RID OF THE AD THAT NOBODY WANTS!!!

I agree with your sentiment. I don't like the adds either, but am pretty good at ignoring them. If everyone ignored them Intuit would stop. Probably.

I'm not sure if you meet the system requirements or not from your comment.

If you do meet the requirements, then it should work.

But if you don't meet the minimum system requirements then in general you really shouldn't expect it to work smoothly.

It is meeting the system requirements.

Hmmm.  When I set my resolution to the minimum requirement I can see the buttons on the payment form without difficulty.

Can you reply and attach a screenshot of your system in this state, where your monitor is set to the minimum requirements and it doesn't work?

On laptops, you cannot resize to that resolution. So you're suggesting to paying customers that THEY perform a workaround because Intuit feels it's better for the bottom line to annoy it's paying customers?

Every time I go to enter a payment for any one of my 200+ clients, I purposely DON'T maximize the payment screen because I reference the customer screen at the same time as there is information there I use. Maximizing the payment screen is NOT an option for my workflow and to ask me to do that EVERY TIME is ridiculous.

I've seen the ad already, I don't want the product and I don't want to see the ad. GET IT OFF!!

It would help immensely if you were actually available 24/7 to take these comments and concerns. It is essentially wrong for Intuit and QuickBooks to override a paid subscription customer's Personal  Preference to block pop-ups in order for you to promote a Service. Most of us who have been using QuickBooks since "An Infamous Whale (can't say his name, you think his proper name uses a bad word) was a Sardine" have set up our desktop versions of QuickBooks in a manner that makes our work processes efficient. Having to see unwanted ads that override my personal preferences, figure out how to try to get rid of them and then be told that your engineers are working on correcting a problem YOU created is a total waste of time.  Somebody in your organization needs to be an End User who quality checks what works in the program and what doesn't,  before you go live and push them out in an update. Obviously, I'm not a "Happy Camper". Thank you, end of rant.

I'm not sure if I'm more frustrated with reading this thread or the useless call I just made to QB Support. If I wasn't paying for the product I wouldn't have a complaint. Stop making excuses and get rid of the message. None of your fixes regarding maximizing the window or changing screen resolution are acceptable. This is a mess and you need to fix it. Listen to the level of frustration from your customers and prioritize the fix to eliminate the ad and make it a pop-up that can be hidden if you have to. BTW - I've used QB for over 24 years and this is motivating me to look at competing products.

This did not work.

Quickbooks, please remove this ad immediately. This interferes with our payment page screen options.

We've received feedback and we'll be considering an option to remove the Capital ad, JG19.

I personally sent these posts to our engineers to see the number of affected users and they're already working on it.

RE: On laptops, you cannot resize to that resolution. So you're suggesting to paying customers that THEY perform a workaround...

I sure can on all of my laptops, some many years old.

I'm not suggesting a workaround at all.  Setting your monitor resolution to the minimum supported resolution is not a workaround.

Turned off in preferences...  Still there.  Maybe I need to close and open the program?  Really annoying.  Desktop is slow as it is -- we don't need ads adding to the work it needs to do.  And we paid for this software.  It is just so wrong to have them send us ads.

Thank you for taking the issue to the developers on our behalf -- that was an appropriate and appreciated action.  AND YES -- Please tell them that we cannot change the resolution on small laptops!  I have to work on a 11" screen... changing the display is not an option that works well.

Also, followed the advice on the "display issues" page you suggested -- it does not help provide an x to close the ad.  Please let the software engineers/developers that the "work around" does not resolve the issue.  The only way for me to record a payment with this ad on the screen is close the transaction and use the warning "you have not recorded this transaction, would you like to do it now?" and say yes.   BUT I cannot edit the memo field any more... and I use that field for reports and for resolving issues years later... I keep notes about the payment there.  Its an important field -- I don't know how many other users have discovered it and how great it is for reports.  But if you have customers that pay deposits or have a group who pay a single bill, this is a great field to track who paid what...

Has there been any resolution to this?  The employee using had to change resolution, just to see the buttons, which is hard for them, as they are now having a hard time seeing the text.

This program cost over a thousand dollars a year, and to put an ad in a critical section, is unacceptable self-serving nonsense.

Let's get the display issue fixed TMain.

We'll have to change some settings to get the best results:

  • Display settings in QuickBooks
  • View Preferences in QuickBooks
  • Windows display settings

For the detailed steps, check the article on how to fix screen issues in QuickBooks Desktop

Once done, open QuickBooks again, and check the screen display.

We're just around if you need more help with this. Feel free to get in touch.

This does not work to resolve the issues... Please see the many previous replies.  Changing display on laptops does not work well.  The preferences within qbs does not address this ad issue.  This ad needs to be removed to resolve the problem.  Is there an update from the software engineers regarding a repair?

Exactly!  Changing the resolution for someone that has a hard time reading the small print is only counter productive.

The point is there is an Ad in a paid program.

+1 on this -- I echo everyone's frustration. I'm getting the same banner for QuickBooks Capital on my payments screen. It seemingly popped up overnight (definitely in one of the most recent updates) and of course I can't close it. Very frustrating. I can confirm that it has nothing to do with resolution issues.

Looks like this problem was first being reported in November for some people. How has it not been resolved yet?
