We are having an issue here with one of users. We are running quickbooks 2021 desktop enterprise. If one of our users has a Excel file open and then if he goes to export an excel file from Quickbooks, when it does the export it first will close out all excel application workbooks that are open without warning and without saving. Is there any way to avoid this from happening?

Allow me to share some additional insights about exporting data to Microsoft Excel
In QuickBooks Desktop 2021, exporting reports requires Microsoft Excel 2019, 2016, 2013, or Microsoft 365 on 64 bit. However, Office and Excel 2010 are currently unsupported.
You can read through these articles about the system requirements to run QuickBooks Desktop 2021.
Thanks for coming to the Community, I'll keep an eye out for your response regarding the Excel version. I'm always up to lend a hand.
Hello jdemo!
Welcome to QuickBooks Community! I'm here to help you and share the possible reason for this exporting behavior.
When exporting data, it'll temporarily close the existing Excel file to successfully generate the new one. It'll be restored and will automatically reopen once the new report has been exported already.
Here are the common reasons why you experienced this behavior:
Each version of QuickBooks Desktop has its system requirements. We need to make sure that they are using either Microsoft Excel 2019, 2016, or 2013. For Microsoft 365, it must be installed locally and not the web version. Check for more details here: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2021.
Also, please update both your Excel and QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. We need to ensure that you have installed the new fixes and patches.
Before you export the data, I suggest you run the Verify and Rebuild Data tool. This will fix any issue on the file so that your company data is error-free.
Need to personalize the reports in QuickBooks Desktop? You can find the instructions here: Customize reports.
Keep on posting here if you have additional concerns. Take care!
The user in question is using an older version of Excel in microsoft excel 2010.
